RITES TODAY FOR COOPER'S GRANDMOTHER
Shawnee--obit for Mrs. Cora E. cooper age 93 who was the grandmother of astronaut Leroy Gordon Cooper.  Burial to be in Cummings Cemetery in Maud.  Mrs. Cooper came to Pottawatomie county in 1896 and had operated a trading post at Maud.  Survivors listed: 3 daughters: Mrs. Hattie Cooper of Tecumseh (mother of Gordon Cooper), Mrs. J.J. Truscott of Shawnee, and Mrs. Guy Troutman of Tucumcari, NM; 1 brother: R.E. Stearns of Shawnee; 1 sister: Mrs. Maud Tinkle of Sulphur.
