Shawnee City Hall
Corner of Ninth & Broadway

The original Shawnee City Hall
was built about 1905 on the northwest corner of  Ninth & Broadway Streets.
A City Hall annex was located on the northside of this building and
a firestation was behind the building to the west.

This Shawnee landmark survivied until October 5, 1970 when a devastating tornado
struck Shawnee's downtown area leaving the City Hall badly damaged and the structure
so weakened that it had to be condemned.

City commissioners awarded a $1.28-million contract for construction of the new city hall complex
pictured below.

Present Shawnee City Hall

This new City Hall and fire station were built on the
original site of the old City Hall (above) with additional space
from Broadway west to Beard Street.
