The Shawnee Garment Factory was founded in 1903 to supply
overalls to railroad workers for both the Rock Island and Santa
Fe railroads.
Three families have owned the company since its founding:
The Nuckolls Family
The Truscott Family
The Antosh Family
The factory began in a building at 324 E. Main and was located there
from 1903 until
1910 when they moved production to 113 1/2 N. Bell. The ground
floor was rented
to retail businesses while the back, the basement and two upper
floors
were used to manufacture various garments.
They have made Roundhouse brand overalls for over 100 years.
In 1995 Shawnee Garment moved to a modern new facility on Acme Road.
In 2007 they were featured on the television show "Made In America"
with
John Ratzenberger.
