The building pictured above was bonded in 1908 in the amount of $85,000.
Prior to the building of the high school students of all grades
attended Central School.
This school served High School students until it burned in 1948.
In December, 1921, a patent was filed for 80 acares where the stadium
(Jim Thorpe)
was later built. Forty acres was sold and is the addition
now called
Jefferson Terrace. In February, 1922, A.C. Davis presented
plans for the athletic field.

A new building was constructed on the same site and ready for the
1949-50 school year.
While this building was being constructed, high school classes met
on the
campus of Oklahoma Baptist University.
The "new" High School was used until 1972 when the third High
School building
was erected on Kennedy street on a portion of the land acquired
in 1921
and near where the stadium was located.
The gym of at the Union-Highland location is still used by
High School students, however, a new gym/auditorium is being built at the
Kennedy location in 2007-8.
After the High School on Kennedy was built in 1972, the 1948 building
(bottom picture above)
was used to house the Shawnee Jr. High.
