SURNAME -  HOFFMAN Query - Searching for my g-grandmother, Ida Van NORRIS b. 1887 in Pulaski,KY. She was raised by an aunt, possibly Nannie L. MORSE b. 1864 in KY widowed by 1900 and living as a servant in the household of a Charley HOFFMAN b. 1833 in Germany. My g-grandmother, Ida Van NORRIS was also living with them in 1900 and is listed as a servant. Two possible relations are living next door, Mary C. MORSE b. 1854 in OH, and Ellen M. MORSE b. 1842 in OH. They were in Brinton Twp. in 1900 but my g-grandmother said she was raised in Shawnee, OK. Desperately seeking any information on any of these families. Thank you! SURNAME -  HORTON Query -   I'm researching the descendants and ancestors of James Arthur Archie -  HORTON, born 1847 in TN. Since one his son's was known as James "Barnie" HORTON, could he possible be descended from the Barnabas HORTON line? So far, James Arthur Archie -  HORTON has only been found in the 1880 Hill Co., TX census which indicated his father was born in MS and his mother born in TN. In about 1867, James A. HORTON married Mary Elizabeth McCLUNG born 1848 in MS -  in Pleasant Site, Franklin Co., AL. In 1885, Mary Elizabeth McClung HORTON died in Hillsboro, Hill Co., TX. After her death, I suspect between 1885 and 1887 James A. HORTON moved his four children to Arkansas since his 16 year old daughter, Katy Horton RADER, had her first child in 1888 in Wild Cherry, Fulton Co., AR. Perhaps, he had family in Arkansas and went there for assistance in rearing the four children. He is believed to have remarried, spouse unknown at this time, and had two daughters, Bell and Mary. Mary is believed to have married an INGRAM. In about 1898, I believe the HORTON family group moved to Chickasaw Nation, Oklahoma Indian Territory, accompanied by RADER families. One daughter, Katy Horton RADER, was enumerated in the 1900 Tecumseh, Pottawatomie Co., OK census. One son, James "Barnie" HORTON, was enumerated in the 1900 Rush Springs, Grady Co., OK census. One daughter, Cora May HORTON, married Homer A. BARKER 1900 in Ninnekah, Grady Co., OK. Another son, Oscar who also may be known as Charles "Mack", has not been found in any census other than the 1880 Hill Co., TX census however, he is believed to have died, unmarried, about 1949 in California. James A. HORTON is believed to have died between 1908 and 1910, about five miles east of Fletcher, Comanche Co., OK in the Cedar Grove School District and is buried in Cement, Caddo Co., OK. Children of James A. HORTON and Mary E. McCLUNG: i. James "Barnie" HORTON, b. 1870 in Pleasant Site, Franklin Co., AL & m. Ollie A. MESKIMEN. Third child born 1899 in Rush Springs, Grady Co., OK. ii.
