SURNAME - THOMPSON Query ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ My uncle James Edgar THOMPSON first arrived in Oklahoma in the early 1900's with his mother and father Mattie Lou and James Willey THOMPSON and his 3 brothers George Lee, William Nathan and John Wesley. I don't know how long the family stayed at that time. It seems that they made at least 2 trips from Tennessee and maybe 3 or more. My uncle Edgar as he was known married Zora HOPKINS from Wanette, date unknown but their oldest child a daughter named Loretta was born in 1910. I don't know if she was born in Oklahoma or Tennessee. She is the one who told me that the family made several trips back and forth between the 2 states in a covered wagon. Her mind is gone now from a stroke and old age so I cannot question her anymore. Edgar had a construction business building homes in Shawnee at one time and my father worked for him and he and my mother lived at the Joanne Hotel. My family only visited there 1 time so I don't remember very much. I'm hoping that someone in th! e Wanette area will recognize this family and can give me more information about them. All of the family is dead now except Loretta and as I mentioned she cannot tell me any of the things that I want to know. The only son Jack accidently shot himself one Thanksgiving when he was only `5 years old.
