SURNAME -  VERNON Query - ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Searching for any information on the "Vernon" family that lived in Shawnee, Ok. when Shawnee was still a tent city. They were there when the first train arrived and lived there for about 15 years. C.L. or W.L. Vernon was the first Justice of the peace. Have a tape recording from my Great Grandmother that details the trip they made from Texas to Shawnee.
