Shelly - My great grandmother, Antoinette Sterling, is buried at Choska Cemetery.  Do you have a photo of that grave site?  Her husband was Frederick Sterling.   You can see more information posted on my web site:   www.millerinfo.net/genealogy

My family came from Boone county AR to OK in 1897 and has lived here in north east OK since that time. My Grandfather Joe Hathcoat moved to the town of Wagoner and went to work for the city back in the 30's cleaning the streets at night. When I was just a kid there was a tavern on the old highway on the south edge of Wagoner does any one know the name of this tavern ( I thank it was called the bucket of blood or bloody bucket) or something like that. I am looking for persons with a connection to Glenn Lucius GILMORE and his family or Reginald Webster GILMORE and his family.  They are listed in the 1920 and 1930 census for Wagoner, OK.  Glenn and Reginald were both born in MN.

Does anyone remember Everett Smith who lived in Okay? He was born in the early 1900's in Missouri and had brothers named Robert and Frank. Sorry to be vague as I have so little information, I am a great niece of his and trying to find relatives to contact for family information. Any help is appreciated.

I am trying to find out genealogical info on an ancestor Will O Evans who shot his foreman and was sent to the Oklahoma State Prison in 1922 and retried and sent again in 1924.  He was pardoned in 1925.  I am trying to find out his parents names--his mother was full blood Cherokee and his birth father's name was McKinley.  He murdered the foreman of a hog ranch where he worked.  If someone can tell me the name of the newspaper for Wagoner at that time or do a look up for me I would really appreciate it.
Thanks, Renee

Also wrote:  I posted a few days ago about an ancestor in my husband's family who was convicted of manslaughter. I was trying to get his prison records to find out the name of his mother who was full blooded Cherokee from Louden, Tennessee.
I received a reply from OSP authorities I will post below. They told me Will O Evans was in the Sheriff of Wagoner county's custody while getting a re-trial.I would like to obtain those records because his mother's name was NOT listed in the state's prison records.
Can someone help me obtain the Sheriff of Wagoners' records?
Here is the reply I received:

Mr. Evans was first sent to the Oklahoma State Penitentiary on November 26, 1922 to serve a 20 year sentence for Manslaughter of of Wagoner County. He was released on January 21, 1924 to the Sheriff of Wagoner County because his conviction was overturned and he was granted a new trial. He was convicted again and given a 4 year sentence for the crime and sent back to OSP on June 20, 1924. He discharged the sentence and was released on August 2, 1925. Very little remains from his prison file. There is no mention of his birth mother's name. His wife and brother's names are recorded. I can send you copies of the information we have.
