Happy New Year!
What have I done so far, I suppose the question should be "what haven't I done or opps what did I do now!"
Missing links..... galore.......hmm strange word when you say it twice. "Galore"..it is taken from the Irish Gaelic language meaning abundance ( I won't mention my warped attempt to learn Gaelic, not an easy language).
Now back on track....updates include but not limited to:
Newspapers, Church listings, link replacements, cemeteries, and Book Reviews
Our roots is a great new site with whole local history book copies available for an online read, there are a few for the Algoma District and they keep adding to the site. Did I mention it is FREE!
Google Books has a similar concept with the ability to search key words in several publications.

Check it out...Many treats have been added to the Algoma Cemetery Directory

"Page Not Found"........Arg......
Have you ever bookmarked and LOST a great LINK ?
Here is your ANSWER.......
Go to the Wayback Machine internet archive site and enter your old internet address. The site has the ability to locate old webpages. They may not be current, but if you need to consult a page again it may be found. This website is going to be a great tool for genealogists who forgot to cite their resource!

Happy New Year!
I have made several changes to the links this year, and there are many other updates. If you happen to locate any of the lost links I would appreciate an update.
It appears the Digital Collections project is no longer online and it is a shame that it was removed. In the case of online material coming and going at the drop of a hat, it is wise to print valuable data, cite the resource, date viewed, and author etc.
The Algoma Genealogy Journal may be removed from this site shortly due to the excessive advertising the provider plasters on the screen. I appreciate a small bit of advertising in exchange for a free service, but I do not have the ability to monitor what is advertised.
The Canadian Surname Index has been added to the site. A short while ago, I was contacted by Jim Lynch who has initiated this project on the basis of advertising family interests with the option of increasing privacy and eliminating spam.

I invite you to visit ...Canada Genweb Cemetery Project
It is a wonderful Canada wide project of cemeteries, currently I am looking for additional information for Algoma Cemeteries and any Northern Ontario cemeteries not included in the database. If you can share your knowledge it would be greatly appreciated. You may contact me by email or through the website.
I mentioned a new section for the website in April, this is not complete and is still a work in progress. As always, I'll keep you posted.
Happy Searches!
July 2005
- The 1911 census link has been added
- New surnames have been included on the Surname page, I will send out a mass email to all persons listed on the surname page for updates. If your address is listed in red, please send me your correct address. THANKS!

April 2005
Links have been replaced and some have just vanished. The last year has been fairly busy with various projects, especially the Cemetery Project which is still in progress.
This month I have added a more complete list to the Census section listing LDS and NAC numbers. Also a new page has been created for other websites who have included the Algoma Genweb on their sites.
I'm currently writing a new section for the website but it will be a few weeks before it's complete.
April 2004: Another Ghost Town Chat will be scheduled later this month. We will have a guest who has explored many ghost towns...feel free to drop by and join in on the chat!! I will keep you posted on the date and time.
Nov 2003: New chat feature added- check it out on the home page.
Oct 2003: Back on track ........ This hen is still plucking away slowly at the keyboard trying to find completion. Just when you think you are laying out your final stones to the path someone decides to change their website link. Buck buc bahhhbuck, ah I just have ruffled feathers.
A new year will be approaching and the GenWeb is anticipating a few new projects on a provincial scale, this will be exciting. Until then I will continue making changes to the site and hunting down those broken links. Thanks to everyone who has taken the time to submit them, it is really much easier than going through all of them.
I have uploaded a Pioneer and Family page. Here you will find links to other websites with Algoma families. I will be adding links to sites I find on the web and I also invite you to send me your family page link to add . EmailI have added a section to the Algoma Publication List where you can add a book review. As submissions grow, I will add a search option which may assist in finding a listing that may contain a surname or area you are researching.
A new page is in the works for Aboriginal Roots in Algoma
This has been an interesting venture. There are many general links for Canadian sites but I am seeking those pertinent to Algoma, if you have any suggestions please drop me a line. (Still under construction)Township Frenzy
I'm still plucking the net for links to township info....tis a slow process.
Township & Community Page remains a work in progress but I have made the existing material available to view. Link is on main GenWeb pageLINKS ~ NEW & UPDATED

November 2002
I think it's time we spice up the Algoma GenWeb. I will occasionally be posting a journal of research and raising some issues we all face on and off line. I invite you to do so as well. It will be renamed the Algoma Genealogy Journal.I spent quite some time finding broken links today, what was supposed to be a check up turned into a full dissection. I applaud everyone who has contacted me regarding broken links & changes to their contact info on the surnames page....thank you it saves us all a lot of time!
Online, things change quickly, just like the time we live in. A good book may be without revision for ages, but a website's only constant is change!
Therefore, it can sometimes be difficult to keep information current, if you encounter a bad link please take a second to tell me so I can relocate it. The AGW is here to assist, not to frustrate. Thank you =)The following are existing links which were lost but have been found:
