From the London Advertiser, June 10, 1880 - Bruce County News

Mr. Kelly, of the 10th concession of Bruce, went to bed in good health and was found dead before twelve at night. An inquest revealed that he died of heart disease.

James H. Eastwood, Port Elgin, village clerk, died of consumption on the 6th.

The Port Elgin post office has been enlarged and improved by its obliging mistress, Mrs. Roy.

From the London Advertiser, March 17, 1880 – An Exodus of 600 Persons from Ontario to the West

An article about a train heading to the West (Manitoba) listed most of the people on board. The ones from Bruce County were:
Joe Flach, Carrick; Mrs. Evans and two children, and Henry Scott, Mildmay; Sol. Schneider, wife and child, Carrick; Augustine Schoupoholer, N. F. Hoover, wife and four children, Carrick; Jas. Wilson, Southampton; Geo. Leavens, Walkerton; Thos. Leavens, wife and seven children, and Samuel Zingg, Walkerton.
Archibald Kippen, wife and two children, from Bruce; George Brooke, Kincardine; Henry Gregg, Tiverton; John Orr, wife and child, Kinloss; John Angus, wife, brother and five children, Lucknow; W. J. Harper, Kinloss.

From the Toronto World, August 21, 1918 – Notice of Name Change

By a deed poll filed at Osgoode Hall, Jacob Stauch, a farmer of Saugeen, Bruce County, has changed his name to Jacob Stowe.

From the Toronto World, May 3, 1918 – Death Notice

SIBBERY – at his home, at Downsview, Ont., May 2, David, fourth son of Mrs. Thomas Sibbery, aged 29 years. Funeral Saturday, at 2:30, to Riverside Cemetery, Wiarton. Sligo (Ireland) papers please copy.
