Toronto: Historical Atlas Publishing Co, 1906, reprint 1972. p. 44 McDONALD, NEIL, (d.), was b. in Argyleshire, Scot., 1817. He came to Canada with his two brothers Angus, and John, in 1852. They set. first in Erin Tp., and the same year, Neil bought 100 acres. Lot 27, con. 7, Eramosa, upon which he set. permanently. Angus went to London, and later, to Grey Co, and finally, to California, where he became very successful. John, m. Mary McFadgen, and set. first in W. Garafraxa, and later on lot 32, con. 7, Eramosa, where he now resides. The late Neil McDonald, was a honorable, straightforward citizen, and a successful farmer. He was an Elder in the Pres. Church for years. He started life in Canada without money, and accumulated a fine property, all by his own efforts, leaving his family well provided for. He m. Margaret Smith in Scot. She d. in 1897, age 90 years, while he d. in 1901, age 84 years. Issue: Mrs. Duncan Bell, Mrs. Angus Ferguson, Peter, Archibald, and Mrs. Chas. Caseni (d.). Peter, b. in Argyleshire, Scot., was five years of age when the family came to Eramosa, where he was raised. He owns the old homestead, containing 100 acres, and 50 acres across the road in Erin, and is one of the most progressive citizens in the section. His farm is of the best, and in a high state of cultivation. He has an up-to-date stone residence, and excellent out buildings. He m Sarah McLean. They belong to the Pres. church, and in politics he is a Liberal. Archibald m. Catherine Carter, owns and lives on his farm of 200 acres, lot 18, con 8 and 9, Erin.
