William Robinson, Erin Twp, Wellington Co, Ontario >From the "Biographical sketches" Historical Atlas of the County of Wellington, Ontario, compiled, drawn and published from personal examinations and surveys. Toronto: Historical Atlas Publishing Co, 1906, reprint 1972. p. 59 ROBINSON, WILLIAM (d.), was b. in Co. Sligo, Ire. and came to Wellington County in 1838. He was one of the early settlers in Erin Twp., where he took up 100 acres, of Clergy Reserve, and located on the rear of his farm to be in close proximity to a living spring. With the assistance of his sons, he cleared the land and many were their hardships and privations. He m. Mary Brown of Ire., and d. about 1866, his widow surviving him a number of years. Both are buried in the Ballinafad Cemetery. Issue: Thomas (d.), set Muskeka; William, set. in Guelph; Mrs. (Dr. ) McNaughton, Guelph, and Walter. Walter Robinson, was b. Streetsville, 1838, and set. in West Garafraxa in 1882, and purchased his property of 200 acres, lot 17 and 18, con. 3. He has later given the north 100 acres to his son, William A. Mr. Robinson is a Methodist and a Conservative. He m. Margaret Near, and later Jane Thompson. Issue: William A. Robinson, unm., owns and occupies the 100 acres, lot 18, con. 7, Both of these farms contain fine buildings, and on the homestead is a fine brick residence. Mr. Walter and Mr. William A. Robinson are leading farmers and raisers of grain and stock in West Garafraxa.
