A Collection of Pictures of Fraserfield in Glengarry County

Most of these pictures were taken by Evelyn Goulet in 1988 and then in 2006. Since before 1988, the owner was George Lang and his wife, and they painstakingly restored this mansion to its original glory. At one time this house was surrounded by a farm of almost 1200 acres, with cheesemaking, orchards and crops over the years. A few historical pictures from other sources are included to provide an idea of how the home has morphed, then returned to its classical beauty. Construction began about 1818 and the house was expanded in 1841. The stine mason who built St. Raphael's church was employed to build this stone edifice.

First Row pictures were taken by Evelyn Goulet in 1988. Some of these pictures appear in my book The Frasers of Fraserfield, The Relations of the Sandfield Macdonalds (665 pages). The excerpt from book at the end was Some of the Sandfields which was produced by Eugene Macdonald, late editor of the Glengarry News, in 1988. Notice there is no porch in 1988, and the building is in poor condition

Row 2 contains a few pictures representing how it looked over the years

Row 3 are exterior pictures taken in 2006 by Evelyn Goulet

Row 4 are interior pictures showing a few of the lovely unique architectural finishes. Taken by Evelyn Goulet in 2006
