DEATH OF MR. H.P. HEMING
MEAFORD EXPRESS (1918) - Mr. Howard P. Heming, Clerk of the Third Division Court of Grey, died last Thursday morning, of acute dilation of the heart. Death, while not unexpected was sudden as he had been seriously ill for two weeks but had appeared to be improving the last few days of his life. Mr. Heming who came to Meaford twenty-one years ago and who had been Division Court Clerk for the past ten years, was born in Guelph 74 years ago, and was in the hardware business in Owen Sound, first in partnership with Mr. Geo. Corbett and later with Mr. Jas. Buchan. Dissolving partnership, he went in business for himself in Fenlon Falls. He married in 1866, Mary, the third daughter of the late John Ninns, of Owen Sound, who survives him together with three daughters and three sons, namely, Mrs. T.E. Cox, Quebec; Mrs. C.T. Sutherland, Owen Sound, and Mrs. H.E. Manley, Asquith, Sask., Dr. F.H. Heming, Meaford; Hilton P. Heming, Auburn, N.Y., and ...... of Toronto, all of whom were present at the funeral.
   Mr. Heming was Conservative in politics, a Mason and a life long member of the English Church. The funeral which took place on Saturday after a private service at his late residence, was held at Christ Church. Interment took place at Meaford Cemetery.
   The pall bearers were the three sons of the deceased, Judge Sutherland, son-in-law and Messrs. Townley, Heming and Thomas Plunkett, nephews.
