Clinton, Huron County Ontario
Clinton was established in 1831. Some of the earliest settlers were Peter Vanderburgh who opened a tavern, and Jonas Gibbings, a farmer. Clinton was originally known as "The Corners".
the settlement grew slowly until William Rattenbury purchased three corners of the intersection and laid out a town plot.
Clinton was named after Sir Henry Clinton who distinguished himself during the Peninsular War.
