I have been asked to research the name HUNTER. The only information I have is
Simon Hunter son of John and Ann HUNTER of Hebblewaite Hall, nr Sedbergh, Yorkshire.
He married Alice Sedgwick in 1815 in Dent, Yorkshire and emigrated to Canada.
I looked in the 1871 census of Ontario (heads of households only) and found
HUNTER, Simon - 85 - Farmer - born England
I went along to the library today but was unable to find Simon in the 1871 census, but
some of the pages were very faint. I did however find Simon in the 1861 census for Usborne
Twp., as follows:
HUNTER, Simon, farmer - born England - Protestant - 75 years
At the time he was living with Richard Hunter, - 43, also born in England and I presume
was Simon's father.
Can you suggest places where I could look for this person?

Joseph Copeland was born April 17th, 1814 in Lanark (?) Ontario. He was listed in Huron County in the Ontario 1871 census as a hotel keeper in Lucknow, Ashfield Township. He is 56 years old at that time. Two years later, on August 28th, 1873 he dies in
Lucknow. I am hoping that someone will be able to help me find his parents names so that I can go back one more generation. His family came from Wexford County Ireland.
