Is there a researcher who would like to search the Anglican parish records that pertain to early Tuckersmith for a reasonable fee? We understand that there may be St. George's Parish records available for the 1840s through the 1860s. We would like to get baptismal, marriage and/or burial records, if they exist, for members of the Carter families of Tuckersmith in those three decades. We would make the same request about Presbyterian records of the period, for a later project. Where are the Presb. records best searched?

Comments:
Jonathan Carter is listed in the 1842 Assessment Roll, Concession 2, Lot 22. A Jonathan Carter, age 37, married Mary Ann Hutchinson, both of Tuckersmith on 25 Dec 1848. We suppose these are the same Jonathan. Does anyone know what happened to Jonathan? Where he went to? We cannot find him in 1861 Census nor any other records of Tuckersmith, nor in Huron Co, nor in any of the counties of Ontario. We think he may have been a brother to George and to Thomas Carter, whose lands adjoined Jonathan's. We do find a Jonathan C. in the Harpurhey Cemetery, d. Apr 1887, age 68, native of Guisborough, England. The Intro. to the Cem. transcriptions says that he was an early Justice of the Peace in mid-nineteenth century. Yet we can't find any Jonathan of hi age between 1850 and this cemetery record. There were several Jonathan Carters, starting with sons of Thomas and George. Does anyone know of this Jonathan Carter?

Comments:
I am interested in info about my great grand father John A. McMillian who was a blacksmith in Usborne, I would appreciate any info, but I have three specific questions: 1) He lived there at the time of his marriage to Jane Cathcart in !864, although the e marriage showed up in the Perth co. listing of marriages. Can anyone tell me what Pres. churches would be possible for their wedding -- ones that were in Perth co in 1864 but close to Usborne. Where are the registers for those churches? 2) He shows u on the 1871 index to the Huron co census (usborne twp, district 25; subdist. "C", Div. 4, page 31. That page is not readable on the microfilm available from the LatterDay Saints Library. Is there any better copies in Huron co? If so, who can I contact and finally 3) He came to Huron Co from Quebec working on the Grand Truck Railway? where can I get info on that project? Thank you.

Comments:
I'm looking for a man who may have moved to Huron County between 1871 and 1881. JOHN VIZARD was granted 100 acres in Peterborough County in 1864. The 1871 census shows him as a 48 yr. old farmer, born in England. He's listed as a stray (has a different name as head of household). He sold his land in 1876 for $116 and he doesn't show up on the 1881 census in Peterborough County. The Ontario Cemetery Finding Aid shows a John Vizard (plus several other Vizards) burried at Maitland Cemetery in Goderich an Woodland Cemetery in East Flamborough. Would anyone be able to help me determine whether this is the John VIZARD that originally owned land in Peterborough? Thanks!
