MANARIE/MANAREY/MANARY FAMILY HISTORY

Siblings of John and Ann Manarey from the Down Seaford, Ireland, arrived in Canada throughout the 1820's and 1830's. John and Ann's family of nine children married and settled throughout the various regions of Canada and United States.

Their Children were: i) James; ii) John; iii) William Robert; iv) Samuel; v) Robert; vi) Sarah Jane; vii) Mary Jane; viii) Joseph and ix) Agnes.

i) John and Ann's eldest son James, married Isabella McLillian in 1831 at Lanark, Lanark County ON. According to the 1861 Census, James was a farmer in Lanark Township, Lanark County, District # 21P. James and Isabella raised 14 children;

Their Children were: i) David; ii) William; iii) Jane; iv) Mary; v) Joseph ; vi) James; vii) Isabella; vii) Sarah; ix) Isaac; x) John; xi) Margaret; xii) Robert; xiii) Alexander; xv) Elizabeth.

i-ii) James and Isabella's son William, married in 1858 at Middleville ON to Margaret White the daughter of Hercules White and Elizabeth Neville. William and Margaret raised 10 children;

< One of their daughter's, Margaret Ellen, married John Henry Munro, (See Munro Family) son of Daniel Munro and Margaret McMunn. John Henry's father Daniel, (the son of Donald Munro and Margaret Murray of Acharrie, Creich, Sutherland, Scotland) sailed to Canada in 1830, at the age of 2 years. Daniels parents settled in Lanark Township at Con 11 Lot 22.

< Margaret Ellen and John Henry's daughter Margaret Edna, married Ernest Munro. Ernest was the young child of Hugh Munro and Jane (Jennie) Price.

i-vi) William's younger brother, James married Mary Hannaberry in 1866 at Quyon Quebec. His wife Mary was the daughter of John Hannaberry and Bridget Fitzgerald. James and Mary had 9 children;

< One of their daughter's, Alice Bridget married William Roy, the son of Louis Abraham Roy and Catherine LaRonde. Alice Bridget and William were married 1899 in Maryland, Quebec.

i-iii) John and Ann's third child, William Robert married twice. He first married Sarah Manary in 1823 at Halton County, ON. There were six children born to this couple. In 1843, William Robert married Helen Holland McGregor. William Robert and Helen had one child;

< William Robert and Helen's only child Joseph Charles married twice. First in 1871 to Rebecca Wilson, daughter of John Wilson and Eleanor Pearson. Joseph Charles and Rebecca settled in the Bay City Michigan area. Joseph Charles and Rebecca had 6 children;

< Joseph Charles and Rebecca's eldest son, Victor Thomas, married Rhoda Mae Edsall in 1896 at Bay City Michigan.

i-vi) John and Ann's daughter, Sarah Jane (Sally), came to Canada in 1839. In 1840 at Lanark ON, she married Robert Jr. Penman. Robert Jr. was the son of Robert Penman and Grizel Cuthbertson. Robert parent's and younger brothers and sisters came to Canada from Lanark Scotland aboard the Prompt in 1820. Robert Jr., came aboard the Commerce in 1821.

Robert Jr. and Sally settled in Lanark Township Conc. 9 Lot 20 E, where they raised a family of 6 children. One child died in infancy in 1853.

< In 1883 their only daughter Sarah Ann, married Michel McKirdy a young widower, who's first wife Agnes Wark (daughter of James Wark and Agnes Pretty) had passed away a few years earlier.

Michel and Sarah Ann had 5 children;

< One son, William, married Catherine Munro, (See Munro Family) daughter of Hugh Munro and Jane (Jennie) Price.

< One daughter, Sarah Jane, married Daniel George Munro son of Hugh Munro and Jennie Price.
