The Parish of St John the Evangelist was formed in 1846. A church was built on King Street East in Gananoque serving a large area which included residents of Howe Island, Brewer's Mills and Jones Falls. As the congregation grew a larger church was needed. A new stone church, on Stone Street South, was opened in 1892. The cemetery also dates from 1846 although many of the earliest stones can no longer be found.

We recommend you visit the OGS Cemetery Index to identify
the Section No. of interest.
