LACHAPELLE--In loving memory of Laurier (Larry) who passed away November 30, 2001.
One year has passed since that sad day.
When one I loved was called away.
God took him home, it was His will,
Within my heart he liveth still.
--Sadly missed by wife, Sally (nee Lockyer)
Manitoulin Expositor, November 27, 2002

LAFLEUR--In loving memory of Emile J. Lafleur who passed away December 5, 2000 at the age of 59.
We are thinking of you today Dad, Grandpa
But then that's nothing new,
We thought about you yesterday,
And the day before that too.
We watched you suffer day by day,
It caused us so much grief,
To see you slowly fade away,
But could not give relief.
Everytime I see your picture,
You seem to smile and say,
Don't cry I am only sleeping
We'll meet again someday.
No one knows the sorrow we share
When our family meets
And you're not there,
So we hold our tears,
When we speak your name
Our hearts still ache with sadness
And silent tears still flow
What it means to lose you
No one will ever know
But now all we have are memories
Which will always keep us strong
Until the day we meet again
Back where we all belong
-- Missed and loved by Son B.J., wife Tammy and grand daughter Tania Sampson.
Manitoulin Expositor, December 5, 2001

LAFLEUR--Always remembered and sadly missed, Emile Joseph Lafleur, December 5, 2000.
The day has come that we
regret the day you left us.
Even though we know the
best go first. We wish you
were still here to share
our happiness and our sorrows
We knew you were suffering more
than you let on, and you showed
us all how to be strong.
But if we only had a few more hours to talk
This road we are going wouldn't
seem such a long walk.
We think and talk about you
each and every day.
And we know you will show us
the right way.
--Always loved and sadly missed and always remembered by son B.J., wife Tammy, grandchildren Tania, Rhonda, Rodney and family.
Manitoulin Expositor, December 4, 2002

LAFLEUR--In loving memory of Emile J. Lafleur, March 26, 1941 - December 5, 2000.
A thousand words won't bring you back,
We know because we've tried.
Neither will a million tears,
We know because we've cried.
Now memories are all we have,
To fade the pain of four years passed.
We can't believe it's been that long,
Just like it was yesterday it still seems wrong.
But we can smile because we can hear you say,
Don't cry for me, we'll reunite again someday.
Remembered and sadly missed by B.J., Tammy and Tania.

But in our hearts you still live on.

LAIDLEY--In loving memory of a dear husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather, George, who passed away May 18, 1998.
God saw you were getting tired
When a cure was not to be.
So He closed His arms around you
And whispered, "Come to Me."
Your golden heart stopped beating,
Your gentle hands at rest.
God broke our hearts to prove to us
He only takes the best.
In tears, we saw you sinking,
We watched you fade away.
Our hearts were almost broken,
You fought so hard to stay.
What you suffered, you told few
You didn't deserve what you went through.
Tired and helpless, you made no fuss,
And tried so hard to stay with us.
But when we saw you sleeping,
So peaceful, free from pain,
We could not wish you back to suffer again.

LANKTREE--In memory of Jean Lanktree who left us July 25, 2005. I want to share a poem given to her by granddaughter Vicky, 1994.
Married in the year 1931, just a teen,
That's our Grandma - Grandma Jean.
She had 9 children each different in their own way
Yet there's a bit of Grandma in all they do and say.
Then came Grandchildren, blessed from above
Giving her more to love
Yes, Grandma Jean always has a smile
And is always there to understand.
Always first to lend a hand.
She can make a rainbow on the cloudiest of days
Created so easily with all her love and special ways.
So, Grandma, when my thoughts go back across the years as they often do,
Each memory in my life is special because of you.
If I had one wish I would wish
Right from the start
That you fulfill every dream within your heart.
"So true of our Mother"
Loving you always, Ben, Eunice and family.
Manitoulin Expositor, July 26, 2006

Loved and missed always, Shelley, Jeananne and family.

LANKTREE--In loving memory of Joanne Lanktree who passed away on October 13, 2006.
How do those of us who have lost a loved one,
Someone who brought so much joy into the lives of her family and friends,
Mark the one-year anniversary of her death?
We do so by remembering who Joanne was and all that made her unique.
We do so by remembering what it was like to call Joanne 'my wife.
'A partner who would be by her husband's side for forty-eight wonderful years.
We do so by remembering what it was like to call Joanne 'my mom'.
A woman who never hesitated to put her children first.
We do so by remembering what it was like to call Joanne 'my grandma,'
A woman who embraced her grandchildren with unconditional love.
But mostly we remember Joanne on this day as a woman
Who would not want us to mourn forever over our loss.
We ask that all who knew her, celebrate Joanne's life
For she is in a place where she no longer feels pain,
Surrounded by those who were patiently waiting for her to arrive.
Forever remembered and always loved, Lew and Family.
Manitoulin Expositor, October 10, 2007

LANKTREE--In memory of Joanne Lanktree,
August 1941 - October 2006.
Two years have gone by since the world lost a wonderful woman - a wife, a mother, a grandmother, a friend.
Two years have gone by since those of us who loved Joanne have had to face an empty seat at the Christmas table and one less voice joining in to sing Happy Birthday.
But...two years doesn't seem like such a long time when those of us who miss Joanne also had the joy of knowing, loving and being loved by her for the sixty-five years she was part of our lives.
Forever loved and remembered, Lew, Sherry, Dale, Susan and families.
Manitoulin Expositor, October 8, 2008

NANCY FERN (LISCUMB) LANKTREE--In loving memory of our dearly beloved and most cherished sister Nancy Fern (Liscumb) Lanktree, who passed away on July 29, 2000 after a courageous battle with brain cancer. She is sadly missed by her sisters Lois & Mary and brother, Harry. To our beloved, we will always remember what cancer cannot do...
It cannot cripple Love,
Shatter Hope,
It cannot corrode Faith,
Destroy Peace
It cannot kill Friendship,
Suppress Memories,
It cannot silence Courage
Or invade the Soul.
It cannot steal Eternal Life
It cannot conquer the Spirit.
A sister's love, her goodness, her caring and her wisdom is a legacy of love that always lives on.
It will live on through us and we shall cherish it always.
Manitoulin Expositor, July 25, 2001

LAURIN--In loving memory of our dear son, Roger Michel Laurin.
He left our side so swiftly on October 4, 2007.
It seems like only yesterday.
You are with us always and we think of you every day.
It broke our hearts to lose you.
You did not go alone that day for part of us went with you.
Guide us, give us hope, and do talk with us throughout our lives.
We miss your smile, your laugh, but most of all your hugs.
Yes, all those memories have a way of keeping loved ones near.
Until we all meet again.
We will always miss you and wish you were here.
Remembered always, forever loved, sadly missed by all.
Mom, Dad, Giselle, Rachelle, family and friends.
Manitoulin Expositor, October 8, 2008

This month comes back with deep regret
It brings back a day we will never forget.

No one knows the grief we bear
When the family meets and he's not there.
The tears we shed will wipe away.
But the ache in our hearts will always stay.
He left us so suddenly his thoughts unknown
But he left us with memories
We are proud to own.
Lovingly remembered by Dave and Val and family, Darren and Jackie and family, and Mingo.
