Mrs. JOHN WEATHERALL

The death occurred on Saturday, June 21st, 1952 of Mrs. John Weatherall, an esteemed resident of the Kagawong area for many years at the ho me of her daughter, Mrs. Burt Bailey, Kagawong.
Mrs. Weatherall was in her 87th year and was the daughter of the late Hiram and Lydia Berry. She was born in the town of Creemore, in Simcoe county. The family moved to the north in 1888 and settled on Cockburn Island, where she was married to John Weatherall. After spending two years on Cockburn Island, they moved to Manitoulin, and she was a resident here for sixty-two years. Mrs. Weatherall is survived by two sons and three daughters, namely, Mrs. Wm. Cronk, Mrs. Burt Bailey and Mrs. Wm. Fogal, all of Kagawong, Pat of Long Bay and Arthur of Whitefish Falls. The funeral was held on Monday, June 23rd, with service in the United Church, Kagawong and interment in Kagawong Cemetery.

ALBERT GEORGE WEBB

In loving memory of Albert George Webb, April 9, 1921 to December 24, 2002.
Albert Webb, a resident of Providence Bay, died at the Mindemoya Hospital, on Tuesday, December 24, 2002 at the age of 81 years. He was born in Durham, and had lived on Manitoulin for the past 6 years. Previous to that, Al had lived in Elliott Lake and Armstrong. He had a great love of the north country, which led him to his job as a bush pilot He truly loved his work, and spent many enjoyable years pursuing his love of the north and of flying. Al was a veteran of WWII, having served overseas.
Survived by his beloved partner Val Taylor of Providence Bay, and her family; will be sadly missed by Ruby Cannard, the Mike Sprack family, Linda and Al Bailey, Harvey and Diane Debassige, Lloyd Jackson and Marshall Richard of Elliott Lake, Ryan Hutchinson and Jim Harasym. Survived by many friends in the Armstrong, Elliott Lake and Manitoulin area. Also survived by sons Warren and Chris, and one brother in the Hamilton area.
At Al's request, there will be no funeral service. Cremation will take place. If so desired, donations to the Mindemoya Hospital would be appreciated and may be made through the Culgin Funeral Home. Val Taylor would like to thank the doctors and nurses at Mindemoya Hospital for the wonderful care and concern given to Al and herself, during this time. Words cannot express the appreciation. Obituary
Mrs. N. J. Webb
The death of Mrs. N.J. Webb which occurred in Port Huron, on April 1st, was the cause of general regret in the vicinity of Gore Bay, where Mrs. Webb was well and favourably known.
The deceased whose maiden name was balance Mame Porter was the second daughter of the late Robert and Mrs. Porter, formerly of Gordon Township, and was in her 37th year. She was married to Mr. Norman J. Webb in 1912 and in 1914 moved to Port Huron where she resided until her death.
The passing of Mrs. Webb, after a lingering illness is marked by expressions of much sympathy in and around Gore Bay, where she was born and received her education. She was a general favourite with all and had a host of friends, not only here, but in Port Huron, where she lived during the latter part of her life.
The Recorder joins the community in offering condolence to the widowed mother and members of her family.
Those who survive her are, her husband, her mother, a sister, Mrs. Alexander Burns of Gore Bay; a bother(sic) Mr. Henry Porter of Port Huron and an only daughter, Janice Webb of Port Huron.

In memory of Alfred Webkamigad-Assinewai of Wikwemikong who passed away at his residence on Monday, May 7, 2007 in his 81st year. Beloved husband of Lillian (nee Mishibinijima) at home. Dear son of the late Basil and Josette (Maiangowi) Webkamigad. Loving father of Diane Peltier (husband Raymond Peltier, predeceased), Myles Webkamigad (wife Virginia M. Peltier, predeceased), Albert Blake Webkamigad, Regina Webkamigad (friend John Flamand), Ephrem Webkamigad, Dominic Webkamigad and Walter (stepson) Mishibinijima all of Wikwemikong, George Webkamigad (friend Thelma Hare) of Toronto and the late Alfred Kenneth Webkamigad and the late Mary Ann Webkamigad. Will be sadly missed by 19 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren and predeceased by 1 grandson. Dear brother of Henry Webkamigad, Josephine Pelletier, Sara Peltier, William Webkamigad, Howie Webkamigad and the late Agatha, George, Joseph, Earl, Ernest, Jacques and Marjory Webkamigab. Alfred's work history was extensive and varied, which was farming, pulpwood cutting and house construction, pasture foreman and weekend Band Office security. Alfred's many interests in life were his children. He was an avid hockey fan as well as baseball, soccer, horses and gardening. His quiet times were spent listening to music and storytelling. He loved to take his grandchildren for haircuts and to visit the barber. Alfred spent time scratching bingo cards. He was a lover of chewing tobacco and juicy fruit gum. Immediate cremation. Visitation at St. Anthony Daniel Church, Kaboni from 3pm Wednesday May 9th until the time of Memorial Mass on Thursday May 10th, 2007 at 11am from Holy Cross Mission Church, Wikwemikong with Father Doug McCarthy officiating. MARY AGNES WEBKAMIGAD

In loving memory of Mary Agnes Webkamigad, August 3, 1933-January 5, 2002. Nimkii-bineshiinh-kwe Mdaaso-bines.
Agnes Webkamigad, a resident of Wikwemikong passed away at the Manitoulin Health Centre on Saturday January 5, 2002 at the age of 68 years. Agnes was born in South Bay, daughter of the John S. and Nancy (Shigwadja) Neganigwane. Agnes was a RPN nurse and worked at various hospitals around Ontario before returning to the Wikwemikong Nursing Home. She specialized in elderly care and was employed as coordinator at the Amikook Senior Centre for 10 years. She served the Lord as a parish leader and council member at St. Anthony Daniel Church in Kaboni. She was Eucharistic Minister, Wake Service Team Leader and in July 2000 was mandated DOS for the Catholic Church. Agnes attended St. Joseph's Residential School for 11 years in Spanish, Ontario.
Beloved wife of Henry Webkamigad of Wikwemikong. Loving mother of Chris (Joanna), Marc(Monica), Jerrold (Peggy), Lionel Assinewai and Caroline Webkamigad. Proud and loving grandmother of 9 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild. Godmother of Sheila Madahbee-Kinoshameg. Dear sister of James (predeceased) wife Celina, Lavina (predeceased) husband John Lewis, Eva Cywink (husband Nick predeceased), Florence (predeceased) husband John Osawamick, Jerome (predeceased) wife Thelea. Shirley Williams, Isadore (wife Verna) and Rosella Kinoshameg husband James all of Wikwemikong. Sister/aunt to Barbara Ann Nolan husband Tom of Garden River and Jean (predeceased). Also survived by many nephews and nieces and will be missed by many extended family members.
Friends and relatives called St. Anthony Daniel Church in Kaboni on Sunday January 6, 2002. Funeral Mass was held from Holy Cross Church on Tuesday, January 8, 2002 at 11:00 a.m. with Father Doug McCarthy to celebrate the mass. Interment will follow in Wikwemikong Cemetery, Kaboni.

WEBSTER, William - Bill passed away at his home at Manitowaning, Manitoulin Island, on Saturday, March 3rd, 2007 in his 71st year. He is survived by his wife Ruth, and his four daughters, Christine of Edmonton, Dianne of Vancouver, Shelley of Clarksburg, and Cara of Toronto, and their mother, Jo Donaghey (nee Wright), his stepchildren, Masaaba and Elizabeth, and two sisters, Margaret and Hope. He will also be sadly missed by his seven grandchildren, and his several nieces and nephews. A family memorial service will be held at the United Church in Manitowaning on Saturday, March 10th, 2007. Memorial donations to the Canadian Cancer Society, Patient Support Services, would be appreciated.

WEBSTER, William Wilson - In Manitowaning on March 3, 2007 age 70.
Husband of Ruth. Father of Christine (Fred), Dianne (Scott), Shelley (Robert), Masaaba (Stella), Elizabeth, Cara (Andy), Grampy or Guga to; Ashley, Dylan, Spencer, Sonya, Anika, Jack and Shelby. Brother of Roderick Webster (Joan) (both predeceased) Margaret (Rick), Hope (Bob). Uncle Willy will be missed.He worked as a paint chemist, industrial foreman, carpenter, and an entrepreneur with an ice fishing and bait & tackle business. With boundless curiosity, he was always tackling new projects and searching for creative solutions to problems. Among the highlights of his life were, driving the Dempster Highway to Innuvik, building a log cottage for daughters, going on fishing trips with buddies and reconnecting with highschool sweetheart, Ruth, after 40 years.

Death of Wm. Wedgerfield
Among the large number of deaths which took place last spring was that of Wm. Wedgerfield who passed away on April 23rd at the age of 84 years.
Mr. Wedgerfield was a native of Norfolk, England, and came to Canada with his parents when he was three years old. They came to Manitoulin in 1879, locating at Providence Bay.
Although in a measure retired for some years he has been a very busy man. He was a believer in and practiser of faithful industry so long as strength remained.
He is survived by the children Chas., George, and Mrs. Geo. Fisher. With the passing of Mr. Wedgerfield another of Manitoulin’s pioneers has gone.

Obituary
Mrs. Geo. Weir
After an illness of only ten days Mrs. George Weir passed away at her home in Gore Bay on Wednesday, January 4. On Christmas day she was not feeling well and went to bed and since that time rapidly became worse until death claimed her.
The late Mrs. Weir, whose maiden name was Margaret Campbell Allan, was born in Chesley sixty-two years ago last May. In 1800 she married Mr. George weir of Stayner and nineteen years ago they moved to Manitoulin living at Barrie Island for a couple of years and then moving to Gore Bay.
The funeral was held on Thursday afternoon and the remains were laid to rest in Gordon cemetery. Besides her husband there is one daughter, Mrs. Alexander Good, who has always lived with her parents, left to mourn. There are also two sisters, Mrs. J. Vancise of Chesley and Mrs. H. Ferrier of Bervie, and three brothers, Thos. Allan of Barrie Island, Wm. John of Chesley and Robert of Peace River, Alberta.

BLANCHE W. WELK

On May 5, 1996 Blanche W. Welk (nee Wickett) died at the Temiskaming Lodge. She was 93.
A life-long resident of New Liskeard, Mrs. Welk was predeceased by her husband Walter Welk; brother Stanley and his wife Edna; and niece Betty Ann Smith. She is survived by niece Shirley St. Michel (Jacques); niece Nancy Coates (George); nephew James Wickett (Debbie); niece Anne Robinson (Gordon); and dear friend Sheila Ferguson.
Funeral services were held at the Perrin Funeral Chapel on May 8. The service was conducted by the Reverend Timothy Hayward of St. Paul’s United Church. Interment to follow at the New Liskeard Cemetery.

January 15, 1919 - January 4, 2009

In loving memory of a dear mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend in Little Current on Manitoulin Island in her 90th year. Predeceased by loving husband Freddie on May 13, 1996. Long time residents of Elk Lake. Survived by three sons, Murray (Rolande) of Kagawong, Lloyd (Bobbi) of Chelmsford, and Kenneth (Cindy) of Marathon. Six grandsons, Terry (Jana), Chris, Brad, Brent (Cassandra), Willis and Tyler. Two great-grandchildren Kalysta and Kole. Survived by brother Clinton of Mattawa, and special nieces Susan Fiset and Holly Woollings and many other nieces and nephews, and good friend Marg Butler. Fondly remembered by staff of Manitoulin Centennial Manor as a dignified lady, always well mannered, polite and obliging. Will be sorely missed by all. At Winnie’s request there will be no visitation or service. Cremation with burial service to be announced at a later date.

MARGARET WEMIGWANS

Wemigwans, Margaret - Of Wikwemikong Nursing Home passed away at the Manitoulin Health Centre on Saturday, February 16, 1980. She was in her 78th year. Margaret was predeceased by her husband John, on February 1, 19?6. She is survived by three sons, Leonard and James of South Bay, Levi of Toronto, five daughters, Violet McGregor of Birch Island, Sara and Mary Jane Charette of Ottawa, Mary of Toronto and Loretta of Sucker Creek. Also survived by twenty-eight grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren
Pallbearers were her grandsons, Marcel, Marc, Wayne all of Ottawa, John, Tim and Brian of Birch Island. Crossbearer - Francis Wemigwans of South Bay. Flower car was driven by Richard Campbell of Ottawa.
Rev. J. Lynch officiated at the services at St. Gabriel Lalament Birch Island. Interment in South Bay Cemetery beside her late husband.

In memory of Carroll Gordon Wesley (Retired CPR) who passed away at the Chapleau Hospital on Tuesday, January 10, 2006.
Gord, beloved husband of Yvonne (Lewis), loving father of Allan (Louise) of Wawa and Kelly of Sudbury. Special grandfather of Brianna. He will be sadly missed by his brothers Jack and his wife Gilberte of Elliot Lake and Larry and his wife Claudette of Chapleau. He will be fondly remembered by his many special nieces and nephews.
A Memorial Funeral Service was held at the Trinity United Church, Chapleau on Friday January 13, 2006. MICHAEL "MIKE" RICHARD WEST

In loving memory of Michael "Mike" Richard West who passed away peacefully at Mindemoya Hospital on Wednesday, October 20, 2004, age 58 years.
Mike worked for the MTO in his early career, until ill health forced him to retire. He loved the outdoors, hunting and fishing when he was able. He was a member of the Mindemoya Lions Club.
Born to Stanley and Marie (Earl) West (both predeceased) on May 2, 1946. Survived by his beloved wife Eva of Mindemoya. Cherished by his children Nancy and husband Joe Cranston of Mindemoya, Brenda and husband Dave Rice of Georgetown, Scot and wife Nancy of Sudbury. Adored by grandchildren Victoria, Benjamin, Dylan, Kayla. Will be missed by sisters and brothers Patricia and husband Larry Merritt of New Brunswick, Paul of British Columbia, Tim and wife Rose of Manitoba, and sister in law Bev West of Sudbury. Remembered by Eva's family. Mother Winnifred Nixon (husband Lenoard predeceased) and her siblings Barb and Gordon Chute, Lewis Nixon, Phyllis and Wayne Feltmate, Robert Nixon, Charlie and Rowena Nixon, Lester and Connie Nixon, Darlene and Ray Tremble.

GLADYS MAE WHEELAND

WHEELAND, Gladys Mae (nee Lambert), September 27, 1914 to November 27, 2000, who passed away in Monroe, Ohio at the age of 86 years.
Beloved wife of the late Hoyt Wheeland (predeceased 1999), married for 64 years. Loving mother of daughter Beth Ditmyer of Ohio and son Dr. Hoyt A. Wheeland, and wife Joan, of Virginia.
Gladys was born on September 27, 1914 in Crothersville, Indiana, daughter of Fred and Pearl Lambert. She and her husband Hoyt had started coming to the Island in the early 1960s and had stayed at the Red Lodge where their daughter Beth met and married the owner's son Joe Ditmyer. In the early 1970s, the Wheelands built their own home across the lake in the Cosby Subdivision of Rockville. Their daughter Beth and husband Joe still have a cottage in the Cosby Subdivision. Gladys will be remembered for being active in the Rockville Community. She belonged to the Women's Institute and both she and her husband Hoyt were members of the Green Bay United Church of Canada. In 1985, Gladys and Hoyt celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary with a celebration held at the Little Current Legion, Branch 177 where 200 guests were in attendance. Gladys loved coming to the Manitoulin where she enjoyed spending time in her flower gardens. Survived by one brother Jay Lambert. Predeceased by two sisters Edna Pomina and Frances Hartigan. Also predeceased by two grandchildren, Hoyt Stephen and Mark Wheeland. Will be missed by four grandchildren: Stacey Heuther, Gretchen Pierce, and Andy and Sarah Ditmyer and four great grandchildren.

GLADYS MAE WHEELAND nee LAMBERT

In loving memory of Gladys Mae Weland, September 27, 1914 to November 27, 2000, who passed away in Monroe, Ohio at the age of 86 years. Beloved wife of the late Hoyt Wheeland (predeceased 1999), married for 64 years. Loving mother of daughter Beth Ditmyer of Ohio and son Dr. Hoyt A. Wheeland, and wife Joan, of Virginia.

GLADYS WHEELER

Gladys Wheeler of Stayner died on June 9, 2002 at her home in Stayner at the age of 81 years.
Daughter of the late Dora (Keown) Matheson and Angus Matheson, Gladys and her husband Harold resided in Wasaga Beach and Stayner. Gladys before she developed Alzheimer's, enjoyed her visits to her Island home and was loved by all whose lives she touched.
Beloved mother of Cheryl and her husband the late Hector Harris, Grandmother of Stacy and Kevin Sheard and Elaine Harris and great grandmother to Melissa, Matthew, Andrew and Mason.
Dear sister and sister-in-law of Gordon and Mary Matheson, Frances Mervyn and Edna Matheson. Predeceased by husband Harold, son-in-law Hector Harris, grandson Brad Harris, bothers Joe, Errold and Reg and sister-in-law Catherine Matheson and brother-in-law Howard Mervyn.
A graveside funeral service was conducted by Carruthers and Davidson Funeral Home of Stayner at Stayner Union Cemetery on Tuesday, June 11, 2002 at 10 O'clock. The Rev. B. Wilkinson officiated.

MRS. W. G. WHALEN -
A pioneer resident of this district, Mrs. W. G. Whalen, died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. T.R. Rowe, 47 Government Road East, on Wednesday following a short illness. Mrs. Whalen was in her 57th year.
Born at Gore Bay, Manitoulin Island, Mrs. Whalen, the former Elizabeth M. Campbell, moved with her parents to Powassan, Ontario. There she met her husband and married him at Powassan 40 years ago.
Mr. and Mrs. Whalen moved to Haileybury in 1919, going on to Cobaltin19 22, and to Kirkland Lake after the Cobalt camp went into a decline.
Mrs. Whalen was an active worker at Trinity United Church and was keenly interested in the Women's missionary Society. Mrs. Whalen was on avis it to her sister, Mrs. P. R. Biggs, Wingham, Ontario, when she became ill. She was brought to the home of her daughter, Mrs. T. R. Rowe, where she died on Wednesday.
She is survived by her husband, by three daughters, Mrs. Rowe, Mrs. H. Vernon, Englehart, and Mrs. W. J. McGill, Westhill, Ontario. Ason, James Whalen resides at Val d'Or. Two sisters survive, Mrs. P. R.Biggs, Wingham,
Ont., Mrs. Wesley Allen, Sturgeon Valley, Saskatchewan,a nd two brothers, Bert and Dan at Callendar.
Funeral services will be held today at Trinity United Church at 2:30o'clock in the afternoon, the Rev. E. E. Long officiating. Interment will be in Kirkland Cemetery.

W. G. WHELEN DIES AT 78 - the death occurred last night in Kirkland District Hospital of William George Whelen, after a short illness. He had been employed by Sylvanite Mine until three weeks ago when he became ill. He was in his 78th year.
Mr. Whelen was born in Shawville, Que., but came to Ontario about 60 years ago. He has lived in Kirkland Lake for 18 years and at the time of his death was residing with his daughter, Mrs. Thomas Rowe, 47 Government road east.
He was predeceased by his wife, Elizabeth, in October, 1943.
He is a veteran of World War I and lived for some time in Powassan and Kapuskasing. Later he moved to Haileybury. He was member of the Canadian Legion.
Surviving are three daughters, Mrs. Rowe, Mrs. H. Vernon of Englehart and Mrs. W. J. Mcill of Harcourt, Ont. One son, James Whelen, lives in Malartic, Que. In addition there are 13 grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at Trinity United Church at 2p.m. Thursday. Interment will be in Kirkland Cemetery.

Chas. White Passes
On Wednesday of last week the Grim Reaper of death again invaded our midst and removed one of our old and respected citizens, in the person of Chas. White. Mr. White passed away at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Wm. Tiplady of Espanola, where he has been living for the past six months. He was born in Chesterfield, Derbyshire, England, in the year 1845, where he spent his early days. When quite a young man he came out to Canada and settled in Toronto, where he was married to Miss Emma Watts, but owing to his wife's ill health he was advised to come north, and in the year 1887 landed in Gore Bay, and continued to ply his trade up till three years ago when owing to ill health he retired from active business. Mr. White was a man of sterling qualities and always took an active interest in things of the community. He served on the school Board for a number of years and was always considered the soul of honor in all his dealings with his fellow men. In politics he was a Conservative and was President of the Association for a number of years. His wife pre-deceased him thirty-six years ago, leaving seven small children of whom Mrs. Wm. Jackson was the oldest, with whose help Mr. White raised the family. The rest of the family are Mrs. Lorne Burke of Blind River; Mrs. Wm. Tiplady of Espanola , Miss Emma of Gore Bay, Albert J. of Chicago, John S. of Toronto and W.G. of Blind River.
The funeral service was conducted by the Rev. W. Swainson of Gore Bay at the Gordon cemetery, where the body was interred.

CHARLES ARTHUR WHITE

In loving memory of Charles Arthur White, April 21, 1916-December 31, 1999. Charlie White, a resident of Gore Bay, died at the Manitoulin Health Centre, Little Current on Friday, December 31, 1999 at the age of 83 years.
He was born in Milton, son of the late George and Ada (Cook) White. Charlie came to Gore Bay in 1939 to open the Stedman's Store, and in 1942 joined the army and served overseas until the end of the war. He then went back to Stedman's and worked in many towns including Huntsville, Wingham, Leamington, Wingham, Kapuskasing and Hearst. He later worked for Pittsburgh Plate Glass in Clarkson for 15 years retiring to Gore Bay in 1980. He enjoyed hunting and fishing and working around their house, fixing things. Charlie was a kind and loving husband, father, grandfather and friend and will be sadly missed.
Dearly loved husband of Doris (Sis) White (McKenzie) of Gore Bay; loving father of John and his wife Patricia of Kelowna, B.C.; predeceased by two daughters Heather and Ann; proud grandfather of Rob, Tony, Angie, George, Carol, Danny and David and great grandchildren Robert, Charles, Chase and Laura; dear brother and brother-in-law of John and Joy White of Shannonville; Betty and Bus Mercer of Milton; Ella O'Meara (husband Al, predeceased) and Ted and Mary White of Etobicoke. Also survived by many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by one brother George.
Friends may call at the Culgin Funeral Home from 10 to 11 a.m. on Wednesday, January 5, 2000. The funeral service will then be conducted at 11 a.m. with Reverend Linda White officiating. If so desired, donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or the Diabetic Association.

In loving memory of Doris "Sis" Purvis White, August 12, 1921 - September 19, 2004, a resident of Gore Bay who died suddenly at her residence on Sunday, September 19, 2004 at the age of 83 years. Doris was born in Gore Bay, daughter of the late Jack and Evelyn (Purvis) McKenzie. Doris was a member of the Lyons Memorial United Church and enjoyed bird watching, working in the flower garden, knitting and crocheting things for her family. Sis will be greatly missed by her family and many friends.
Dearly loved wife of the late Charles A. White (predeceased her in 1999). Dear mother of John and Pat White of Kelowna, B.C. Predeceased by two daughters Heather and Anne. Death of Mrs. White
With the opening of the New Year there passed the great divide one of the kindest cheeriest and most lovable women of the upper Essa section, Mrs. Fred Whit (sic). For the past six months she has suffered patiently from the dread disease cancer. Every thing that care and medical aid could do was done, but it was of no avail in saving the life of one dearly loved by all who knew her. Mrs. White was always noted for her cheery smile, her willingness to help others, and her sympathy in time of trouble. She was an active member of the Baxter Presbyterian church, and also of the Women’s Missionary society. Besides her husband she leaves to mourn her loss three Upton boys whom she mothered since the death of their mother seventeen years ago; also five sisters and six brothers, Dave Irwin of Manitoulin, John and Isaac of North Bay, W.G. of Angus, Rob of Alliston, James of Longford, Mrs. Arthur Wilkinson of Gore Bay, Mrs. A. Callander of Bradford, Mrs. Willoughby of Arthur, Mrs. Taggarty and Mrs. McKnight of Essa. The funeral took place to Angus cemetery on Monday, five brothers and Albert White, a brother-in-law, acting as pallbearers. Francis "Frank" White, a resident of M'Chigeeng passed away at the Sudbury Regional Hospital St. Joseph's Site, Monday, August 12, 2002 in his 57th year. Frank was born in Mindemoya son of the late Angus and the late Nora (McGraw) White.
Frank worked as a miner at INCO and was a great fan and player of baseball. He was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church.
Dear father of Anthony, Gizelle, Rae Ann, Ben, Dawn and Wayne Migwans of M'Chigeeng. Dear and loving brother of Adolphis McGraw and Annie White both of M'Chigeeng, Henry White, Linda Silva, Mae White all of Toronto, Mabel Angiolillo of Maple and Mary Lou White of M'Chigeeng. Predeceased by one sister Rose Emma White. Also survived by many uncles, aunts, nieces and nephews.
The funeral mass was held from the Immaculate Conception Church, M'Chigeeng on Thursday, August 15, 2002. Father Robert Foliot was celebrant. Interment in M'Chigeeng Cemetery.

Funeral services for the late George White of Providence Bay, who died suddenly on April 24, 1975, were conducted in the Salem Missionary Church, Spring Bay, on April 2, with Rev. C. Rosenberger officiating, assisted by Rev. Mr. Clark.

Surviving, besides his widow, the former Mrs. Agnes Pickard to whom Mr. White was married in 1969, are two brothers, Stanley of Whitefish Falls, and Clifford of Green Bay; five sisters, May (Mrs. J. Randall( Milton; Ethel (Mrs. W. Nevills) Milton; Pearl (Mrs. M. Harvey) Terranova; Cecile (Mrs. W. Ferguson) and Dorothy (Mrs. R. Hughston, both of Little Current. He was predeceased by one brother, Charles and one sister, Myrtle (Mrs. B. Dunlop). Five children also mourn his loss; Arlif, Sudbury; Helen (Mrs. L. Wark) Walkerton; Raymond, London; Mildred (Mrs. C. Sauder) Tehkummah; and Morland, Providence Bay.
Pallbearers for the funeral were Dennis White, Randy White, George Sauder, Floyd Alexander, Rodney Cleaver and Robert Quesnel. Interment was in the Mindemoya Cemetery.

Born on July 21, 1910 in Toronto son of the late William & Ada Mary White from Ayslebury Buck, England. He came to Manitowaning, Manitoulin Island in 1950 with his first wife Evelyn (Weallans) (predeceased in 1959) and two children James Robert (wife Joyce) and Joyce Lillian (husband Dave Ham). Later married Thelma (Hunter) (nee Lanktree) in 1964, becoming step-father to Keith Hunter (predeceased) wife Sharon, Jeneen Phillips & husband Reuben. Loved Grandfather of Tim White & wife Karen, Bob White & wife Jackie, Brad Ham & friend Shan, Lynn Dunlop & husband Kevin, John Ham & wife Earlene. Great grandfather of James & Laura White, Christopher & Steven White, Brett Ham, Courtland & Carter Dunlop, William Ham (predeceased), and step grandfather of Debbie & husband Maurizio Presot, Laurie & husband Greg Morrow, Shelley & husband Perry Musseau, Tracy Hunter, step great grandchildren, Marco & Nico Presot, Brek Morrow. Predeceased by his dear wife Elizabeth (nee Kidd). Left to mourn are sister-in-laws Helen White of Whitefish Falls and Leona Tydd of Ancaster. His two little great nieces Shalyn and Sheridan will miss their "Grandpa Jim", as they loved to call him. KENNETH TREVOR HAROLD WHITE

In loving memory of Kenneth Trevor Harold White, November 22, 1907 - May 1, 2004
Trevor White, a resident of Gore Bay and formerly of Providence Bay, died at the Manitoulin Lodge Nursing Home on Saturday May 1, 2004 at the age of 96 years. He was born at Eversly, England, son of the late John and Eliza (Double) White. Trevor farmed all his life in the Providence Bay area. He was an avid curler for many years and had a variety of interests which included hunting, reading and gardening. Trevor will be greatly missed by his family and many friends.
Trevor is predeceased by his wife Ella Pearl (Caddel) White (May 25, 1999). Loving and loved father of Don and wife Bobbie White of Prince Albert, Sask; John and wife Mary White of Providence Bay and Marian Sloss and husband Alvin of Long Bay. Dear grandfather of Jack and Lisa White, Lisa and Darren Aelick, Jean and Peter Paquette, Clayton and Peggy Sloss, Michael and Suzanne White and 10 great grandchildren. Dear brother of Ruby McMurray of Gore Bay. Predeceased by three brothers Charlie, Ray, Nelson and an adopted sister Marie. Survived by many nieces and nephews.

LENA WHITE (WAABI-OJIIG)

Lena White (Waabi-Ojiig) June 1, 1940-January 28, 2000.
Peacefully after a short battle with cancer, Waabi-Ojiig walked into the spirit world. Lena grew up on Wikwemikong Unceded First Nation on Manitoulin Island, Ontario. She resided at Roseau River Anishinabe First Nation since 1995.
Lena was the daughter of the late Dominic Odjig and Lucy Odjig. She was the beloved wife of Charles Nelson of Roseau River. Lena also leaves two sons to treasure her memory, Stanford and Shannon White, both of Walpole Island, Ont.; their father David White and Charlie's children, Zongidaya, Jodee, Anna, Bawbee and Kirby of Roseau River.
Also left to mourn her passing are brothers Frank, Wilfred (friend Denise), Ronnie (Mary Lynn), Gordie (friend Annette) and Clayton (friend Maryann), all of Wikwemikong; sisters, Marcella Clarkson (Chuck) of Millgrove, Rose Marie Trudeau of Wikwemikong and Patricia of Toronto. Lena was predeceased by her sisters, Rita and Lorraine. Lena was also a dear sister to Don (Mary Agnes) of Wikwemikong, Stanley Fisher (Boots) of Sault Ste. Marie, Daphne Beauon (Chester) and Winnie Christian (George) of British Columbia. In-laws, Larry Glover, Margaret Jackson, Alanis King-Odjig, as well as many nieces, nephews, relatives, godchildren and friends will miss Lena. Lena's passing will be keenly felt by the Nelson family and her sister and brothers of the Mide Lodge, where she was a First Degree Midewiwin-quay. Lena never hesitated to stand up an do the work that she had committed her life to.
Lena was well-known for her work in the area of Native language education and participated in the development of the Native Human Services Programme (Hons. B.S.W.) at Laurentian University. She was a teacher of Native language courses in the Native Language Instructors Program at Lakehead University. Lena attained her Masters Degree at York University in the Native Canadian Relations Theme Area in the Faculty of Environment Studies focusing on human environment and relationships, culture and languages.
Lena was uncomplaining to the end. She will be remembered for her energetic and helpful nature. She generously shared her many gifts with members of her community and the Midewiwin Lodge.
A traditional community wake was held on Saturday, January 29 with Mide-Teacher, Lawrence Henry at the Roseau River Anishinabe Community Hall. The first water drum teachings in memory of Waabi-Ojiig, as instructed by Mide Grand Chief Eddie Benton Benai, began at sunset on Sunday, January 30. Final preparation and teaching ceremonies began at sunset on Monday, January 31. A burial ceremony was held on Tuesday, February 1, followed by a feast at noon.
Thank you to staff of the Morris Hospital for their kind and respectful treatment during Lena's illness. Also thank you to family, friends and the Midewiwin Lodge for their support during this difficult time.

WHITE, Pickard (Alexander) Mary Agnes - passed away at her residence in Providence Bay on Thursday, January 12, 1995 at the age of 80 years. She was born in Providence Bay daughter of the late Robert and Martha (Wilson) Alexander. Agnes had many hobbies and community interests including ceramics, crafts, knitting, sewing, baking and was a member of the Providence Bay Fair Board, Horticultural Society and the Senior's Group. She loved to travel and had been to many places including Alaska, Florida and one of her greatest pleasures was being with young people who in turn enjoyed her sense of humour, warmth and kindness and will be greatly missed by all who knew her. She was twice married. Her first husband Robert Pickard predeceased in 1967. She later married George White who also predeceased. Surviving are daughter-in-law Joan Alexander of Gravenhurst and son-in-law Calvin Pearson of Providence Bay; one sister Jessie Small of Sault Ste. Marie and one brother Jack Alexander of Sudbury. Loving grandmother of Kelly Alexander, Danny Alexander, Carrie Dawn and Myles Shell, Robert Pearson and Diane Kay and Calann and Brian Lockyer and dear great-grandmother of eight great grandchildren. Predeceased by daughter Betty Ann Pearson in April of 1993, son Floyd Alexander in 1975, sisters Sadie and Margaret and brothers Rex, Joe and Gilbert. Funeral was conducted at the Turner Funeral Home with Rev. Mary Jo Eckert Tracy officiating. In remembrance donations may be made to the Diabetic Society of Mindemoya Hospital. MARY JANE (GROTHIER) WHITE

On Wednesday, January 22, 2003, at Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre, Toronto, at age 71, after a lengthy illness.
Loving mother of Scott and his wife Carole of Toronto. Proud grandmother of Maddie and Nickie. Survived by her cousin David and his wife Joanne who were so kind to her over the years. Daughter of the late Wilmer (Bud) and Pauline Grothier, formerly of Woodstock, Ontario, and predeceased by her only sister, Margaret Curran. Mary Jane was a graduate of the Toronto General Hospital nursing program and a longtime volunteer at the Donwood Institute where she helped countless people cope with the struggles of addiction. She loved her cats, her old dog Misha and all the friends she met along the way.
A Service of Remembrance was held at the Humphrey Funeral Home, A.W. Miles Chapel, Toronto on Tuesday, January 28.
For every summer of her life, including the last one, Mary Jane would travel to her favourite place in the world, McGregor Bay. To honour her love for that precious corner of Georgian Bay, donations may be made in her memory to the G.B.A. Foundation, 48 Lesmill Road, Don Mills, Ontario M3B 2T5.

MORLAND ROBERT WHITE

In loving memory of Morland Robert White on Monday, January 7, 2002 at Manitoulin Health Centre, age 68 years.
Beloved husband of Christina White (nee Cosby). Dear father of Brenda and husband Leonard Maurice of Mindemoya, David and wife Debbie of Brampton, Sandra and Gary Buzwah of Little Current. Loved grandfather of Jason and Natasha Maurice, Melissa and Brian White and Kyle and Shane Buzwah. Will be missed by siblings Iliff (predeceased) and wife Keitha of Lively, Helen and husband Lynas Wark of Providence Bay, Raymond and wife Betty White of London and Mildred Sauder of Tehkummah.
Memorial service was held on Thursday, January 10, 2002 at the Island Funeral Home. Cremation with burial in Cold Springs Cemetery in the spring.

PATSY WHITE

Whitefish Falls and surrounding district were saddened to learn of the death of Patsy, little six year old daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Stanley White, which occurred on Friday, Nov. 5 at 11:30 p.m. at her home Whitefish Falls. Death came to this little girl after a 3 week illness of pneumonia.
On Saturday at 1:30 p.m. a short service was conducted in the church of St. Augustine’s after which the body was conveyed to the home of Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Nevilles, Green Bay, aunt and uncle of the deceased.
On Sunday afternoon at 2 p.m. the funeral service was held in the Green Bay Church. Service was conducted by the Rev. A.W. Stump, Whitefish Falls. The text of this service was taken from St. Matt’s Gospel. “The child is not dead, but sleepeth.” Her body was laid to rest in the church yard at Green Bay.
Pall bearers were six uncles of the deceased, namely, Messrs. Thos. Nolan, and P.J. Gagnon of Whitefish Falls, and Messrs. Clifford, George and Charlie White of Green Bay.
The funeral was ably carried out by Mr. Howard Smith of Manitowaning. The large crowd of friends and neighbours who were present at the funeral services at Whitefish Falls and Green Bay, testified just how much this sunny little girl was loved. Deepest sympathy goes out to the sorrowing family, Mr. and Mrs. White, Lloyd and James.

WHITE R.G. "Reggie" - At Red Cross Hospital on Tuesday, December 25, 1979, R. G. "Reggie" White in his 13th year.
Dear son of Reg and Lois White of Sandfield Township. Loving grandson of Mr. and Mrs. James Mucklow of North Bay and Mrs. Lucy Phillips of Bonavista, NFLD.
Rested at Mindemoya United Church Thursday. Funeral service was from there on Friday, December 28 at 2 p.m., with Rev. D.M.A. MacQueen officiating. Cremation followed.

WHITE, Rose Emma, September 27, 1947 to December 12, 2000. A resident of West Bay, died at the Sudbury Regional Hospital-St. Joseph's Site on Tuesday, December 12, 2000 at the age of 53 years. Rose was born at Mindemoya, daughter of the late Angus and Nora (McGraw) White.
Rose had been ill for many years, but enjoyed reading, and walking, and was an avid bingo player. She will be sadly missed by her family and friends. Dearly loved mother of Ron White (Tracy) of Toronto and Gerald White of Toronto. Loving grandmother of Lynn Marie Debassige and Shailyn and Tyler Syrette. Dear sister of Adolphis McGraw and Francis White of West Bay and Henry White of Toronto; and Linda Silva, Mabel Angelileo, May White and Mary Lou White all of Toronto and Annie White of West Bay. Survived by nephews Morgan McGraw, Michael White of West Bay. In hospital, in Perth on Sunday, May 4th, 2008, Averil Martha (Montgomery) Whiteley (retired school teacher) in her 95th year. Predeceased by her first husband Howard Greenfield, her second husband Harry Whiteley and her parents Alex and Lizzie (Dixon) Montgomery. Dear sister of Olive (late Alex) Headrick and family Elaine and Terry Regnault, Gordon and Gail Headrick and Brenda and Mark Bronson and Dixon Montgomery and his wife Fern and their family Helen and Bill Kempers, Norine and Roland Frood, Karen and Guy Fournier and Grant and Suzanne Montgomery. Loved step-mother of Richard (Sharon) Whiteley of Vancouver Island and Rob (late Bonnie) and Ron (Loa) Whiteley both of Calgary. Averil will be fondly remembered by David (Wendy) Barkley, her grandchildren Stephen and Donna Barkley and Kathy and Nathan West; great grandchild Ryan, her nieces, nephews, all her family and friends. Averil and Howard managed the Canadian Tire Stores in Cochrane and Renfrew. The family would like to thank special cousin Lois Bolton for her support over the past years. MARTHA JANET ROBERTSON WHITFIELD

In loving memory of Martha Janet Robertson Whitfield who passed away in the Meaford Long Term Care Facility on May 29, 2005. She was 90 years of age.
Born on February 5, 1915 at Ice Lake, Ont. Her parents Andrew and Charlotte (Baker) predeceased her along with siblings Andrew, Achsa, Mary, Charles, Agnes, John and Billie. She is survived by Susie Prior and two sisters-in-law, Elizabeth of Gore Bay and Dorothy Robertson of Thunder Bay, and one brother-in-law Mervyn Whitfield, Sault Ste. Marie. Martha married Clarence Whitfield on November 19, 1935 and he predeceased her on December 30, 1995. Martha is survived by her six children and their spouses, Wilma and Clyde Lansdell of Meaford, Norris and Julie Whitfield of Ottawa, Myra and Richard Tallman of Manitoulin Island, Phyllis and Steve May of Sundridge, Ray and Bernice Whitfield of Allanford and Rhonda and Edmund Whittington of Beamsville. Martha was also loved and survived by 17 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren.

Born in Regina, Saskatchewan. Predeceased by husband Leonard Newton Whyte, predeceased December 1, 1944. Sadly missed by her family Garry and Betty Whyte and family, Bill and Ruth Blackburn and family, and Gloria Waters and family. Fondly remembered by many close friends who she touched during her life.
Memorial service was held Saturday, October 7, 2000 at the Little Current Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses. Interment at Renfrew Public Cemetery.
