All Fraser men James, Simon and John were members (sometimes Masters) of the Masonic Lodge in Gore Bay. The Masonic Lodge provided the wonderful headstone for John McMurchy Fraser.

This is the headstone of my great grandfather, born in Kleinburg, Ontario. His wife was Ida E. BICKELL (see Photo Pages). John was a mill manager, and lumberman, in Gore Bay. He also served as Mayor in 1896 and 1900 and again, from 1901 to 1905. His brother James was also Mayor from 1895-1896.

Kate Fraser (sister to John McMurchy Fraser) was the eldest child of Simon Fraser (1818-1901) and Flora McQuarrie. Catherine Munro Faser (1847-King, ON-1946 Gore Bay) spinster.

Annie McKinnon Fraser was the second child (1849 Vaughn - 1936 Gore Bay). She married James Henry Thorburn (1845-1903), a miller from Haldimand Co., and they had a large family.

Simon McQuarrie Fraser was the fourth child (1854 Vaughan-1936 Gore Bay). He married (1) Emma Amelia Beck (1859-1885) who died in childbirth (see below) and (2) Marion Elizabeth Howell (1859-1943). FAREWELL
