FAWNE STRATFORD-DEVAI
Leaving Ontario – Resources for Tracking Ontario Migrants
Do you have Ontario ancestors that just vanish? Did they go to the gold rush of California? Were they attracted by homesteading advertisements from the Canadian and US west? Are they hiding in Michigan? This lecture will provide you with resources for tracking Ontario migrants in databases across Canada and the USA.
-------------------------------------------------------
Getting From Here to
There:
Identifying the Origin of Immigrants to Canada
This session is designed to help researchers in their quest to locate an ancestral home in the old country. When tracing the origins of an immigrant ancestor the answer is most often found in the records of the country they emigrated to. Until a solid paper trail of evidence has been established back to the first immigrant, researching in the old country is virtually impossible. But what records provide this important information? Attend this session to discover what Ontario and Canadian sources are available to help identify the origin of immigrants to this country.
-------------------------------------------------------
RICK ROBERTS OF GLOBAL GENEALOGY:
Researching
Canadian Military Records Using Online and Traditional Resources
Discover which Canadian military records are available for different time frames and for different military conflicts, where those records are, how to access them, plus tips and hints for interpreting Canadian military documents. Case studies, compiled by using internet based and physical records, will illustrate effective strategies, research processes and results.
---------------------------------------------------------------------
A selection of books & maps from Global Genealogy will be available for sale. Anything you’ve been wanting? Save the postage or just have a look at an interesting title. Call Lynn with any requests and Global will try to bring them along.
Browse our local publication and sales tables, make useful connections and enjoy a wonderful day of genealogy.
Beginner or advanced researcher, you won’t want to miss these informative and entertaining speakers.
Everyone Welcome!

The Archives of Ontario is
pleased to
announce the release of the updated microfilm interloan catalogue.
Unlike earlier catalogues, the new catalogue is on line, educational
and interactive. Those familiar with their previous catalogues will
notice that not all of the interloan microfilm is currently listed.
Rather than delaying the release of the catalogue they wanted to
ensure that their most popular holdings (including Ontario Vital
Statistics) were up to date and available now. They will be updating
the catalogue regularly as well as adding new microfilm to their
interloan holdings in the coming months.
You will find them
at http://www.archives.gov.on.ca/
The main Interloan English page is
http://www.archives.gov.on.ca/english/interloan/index.html
The main Interloan French page is
http://www.archives.gov.on.ca/french/interloan/index.html
Important Note: The Microfilm Interloan Service
allows you
to borrow microfilmed archival records through a library or other
institution that participates in the interlibrary loan system. Ask
your local library about their interlibrary loan policies.
Researchers cannot order the microfilm directly from the Archives you
must go through your local library.
Can we suggest that you
may wish to consider joining FRIENDS of the ARCHIVES of ONTARIO? The
time and opportunity has come for us, as individuals, to assist the
Archives in carrying on with tradition of preserving the evidence of
our provincial history; to show our support for and increase the
awareness of the Archives of Ontario; and to acknowledge the

membership you will receive their newsletter FRIENDS OF THE ARCHIVES
OF ONTARIO. The paper will be published four times a year and will be
filled with informative reading.
