1.  BENJAMIN GILBERT was born November 05, 1806 in Charlotteville Township , Norfolk County , Upper Canada and died October 18, 1887 in Dereham Township , Oxford County , Ontario .  He married AMY OGDEN FLUELLING April 30, 1830 in Dereham Township , Oxford County, daughter of BENJAMIN FLEULLING and MARY WEEKS.  She was born October 08, 1812 in Scipioville, Cayuga County , New York , and died July 08, 1882 in Dereham Township , Oxford County , Ontario .

Old Pioneer gone.... Benjamin Gilbert - 1887  

     On Friday evening October 28, 1887 at his residence near the M. C. R. station, passed away peacefully, at a ripe old age. Benjamin Gilbert, one of the best known and most highly respected of the old pioneers of the County of Oxford . Mr. Gilbert apparently died of old age and although he lingered for some weeks, did not to all appearances suffer much pain. The deceased was born somewhere at the beginning of the century at Charlotteville in the neighboring county of Norfolk and was therefore considerably over eighty years of age.  

     His father served against the American rebels in the Revolutionary War of 1776, and was one of that noble band of men -- the United Empire Loyalists -- who sacrificed their all for their attachment to the old flag.  

     The deceased was always distinguished for his sturdy, unbending loyalty to the British Crown and like his father, was ready to seal his principles with his blood having served in the rebellion of 1837. He was a member of L. O. L.  254. One brother, two sisters and six children survived him. His funeral, which took place on Monday at St. Charles Church , Dereham Township , was attended by an immense concourse of teams of people and was one of the largest ever seen in Dereham. Rev. R. F. Dixon read the memorial service and at the request of the family spoke at the grave.

3. Tamar W. Gilbert (Benjamin2, Josiah1) was born 16 June 1835 in Dereham Township, Oxford County, Upper Canada and died 12 September 1897 in Dereham Township, Oxford County, Ontario. She married Francis C. Stroud 15 October 1863 in Dereham Township, Oxford County, Upper Canada, son of Robert Stroud and Dorotha Chadwick. He was born 04 July 1832 in Dereham Township, Oxford County, Upper Canada and died 13 December 1903 in Dereham Township, Oxford County, Ontario.

married George Miners 25 August 1862 in Oxford County, Ontario, son of William Miners and Elizabeth Cunday.
