Treadwell  A rising village on the south bank of the river Ottawa, county
of Prescott.  Building is very actively prosecuted here.  Steamers from
Grenville to Ottawa call at this point daily, and are thence chiefly
supplied with fuel.  There is also a constant ferry to Papineauville.
Distant from Georgian Springs, 4 miles, from Plantagenet Springs 6 miles,
from Caledonia Springs 11 miles, from L'Orignal, the county town, 17 miles,
from Grenville 22 miles, from Ottawa 42 miles, fare $1; from Monrreal 90
miles.  Mail daily in summer, bi-weekly in winter.  Population about 50.
