1. Regular Mail postings have been archived at the list host site in monthly archive files since Dec-1996. You can request a listing of archive files via email, by sending the text "index uovgen" in the body of a mail message to majordomo@valleynet.on.ca. To retrieve a monthly archive send the command "get uovgen uovgen.yymm" where yymm is the the year and month of the archive. (eg. sending the command "get uovgen uovgen.9701" would return the archive postings for January, 1997)
2. Digest Mail has been archived at the list host site in daily archive files since 06-Feb-1998. You can request a listing of Digest archive files via email, by sending the text "index uovgen-digest" in the body of a mail message to majordomo@valleynet.on.ca. To retrieve a daily archive, note the file name beside the date you are interested in, then send a command similar to this: "get uovgen-digest v01.n123" where v01.n123 is the digest volume and issue.

• Surnames posted to the list are indexed and linked to the submitters email address in the Surname Listings Index. There are now 3,233 Renfrew and Pontiac Co. surnames listed.

• The UOVGG was formed in January 1990 as an independent non-profit organization to foster the study of the genealogy of families who live or lived in the Upper Ottawa Valley in Renfrew and Pontiac Counties. UOVGG holds monthly meetings and members receive the newsletter Timberline.
