books, articles, and useful addresses to assist with research in York Region. Books can be
located using your favourite online library catalogue search, borrowed through
interlibrary loan, or purchased directly from the publishers.

The Toronto Public Library Digital Collections website brings together a variety of primary and secondary source materials from the Library’s collections. The site now consists of a suite of databases of digitized images and several text only databases are also provided. These
searchable databases include: York & Toronto City Directories (1833-1881), York Minutes 1797-1823, Atlas Books, Local History Books, Maps, Pictures, Postcards and Souvenir Pictures.

RMB Services). This is a Head of Household and Strays index to the residents of Whitchurch
township and Stouffville village in York County, Ontario. It includes, in separate
indexes, Walton's 1837 Directory; Brown's 1846-7 Directory; Rowsell's 1850-1 Directory;
and the federal census for 1861, 1871, 1881, 1891 and 1901. The index gives the surname,
first name, and age of the person, and the section and page where they are listed in the
census.
