Relay for Life Team 2014

On June 14, 2014, Astoria Chapter retired 21 American Flags and 3 Oregon State flags at Fort Stevens Historical park near Astoria. The ceremony was attended by a local Boy Scout troop and many members of the public. Johnny Alexander, State President of the Sons of the American Revolution attended and presented Astoria Chapter with a certificate “in Recognition of Exemplary Patriotism in the display of the Flag of the United States of America”  From the National Society of the Sons Of the American Revolution. He also presented Regent Sue Glen with the Martha Washington Medal “in grateful recognition of her outstanding service to the Sons of the American Revolution.”

In March, 2013 Astoria Chapter marked the grave of Edward Cullaby.  Edward Cullaby was a man who was rescued by the local natives and lived here at the south end of Cullaby lake that is named for him.
He had red hair and was mentioned in the Lewis and Clark journals when they met him while they were here at Fort Clatsop.
