HOW TO JOIN OUR CHAPTER |
Any woman who is at least eighteen years
of age and can prove lineal, blood line descent
from an ancestor who aided in achieving
American independence is eligible for membership
in the National Society Daughters of the
American Revolution. Admission to
membership is by an invitation from the local
Chapter of your State Organization.
Documentation must be provided for each statement
of birth, marriage and death in your lineage
to your patriot ancestor. This shall
include the applicant's birth certificate
naming her parents. This documentation can
take many forms such as census
records, certificates, town records or church
records.
The NSDAR accepts service of an ancestor,
with some exceptions, for the period between
April 19, 1775 (The Battle of Lexington)
and
November 26, 1783 (The withdrawal of British
Troops from New York)
The service of your ancestor in achieving
American independence can fall into many
areas. This could be anything from being
a signer of
the Declaration of Independence to military
service to rendering material aid such as
furnishing supplies. A complete list is available
on our national website or by contacting
our Registrar.
