Lone Fir Cemetery

T.15 S    R.8 W     S.6, SW¼
Enumerated on 26 October 1988

The LONE FIR CEMETERY is located on Lobster Creek Road in Lobster Valley. Drive to Alsea, turn left to Lobster Valley, then make a right turn onto Lobster Valley Road. Shortly before reaching Preacher Creek Road, turn right up the hill to the cemetery, which is not visible from the road.

The cemetery was established on the Sapp family homestead in the 1880's. The Sapps deeded the cemetery land to the community. According to Lola Sapp Bowen, one of the earliest burials was her father's little sister, Mabel Sapp, who died of dysentery at the age of two. The lone fir tree that gave the cemetery its name still stands near the cemetery entrance.
