The Oregon State Society C.A.R. recently elected a new president, Zachary Olsen. He will be raising funds for the Fallen Heroes War Memorial. This memorial is located in Central Point, Oregon near Medford. The memorial was created in 2008 to honor all Oregon servicemen who have died in action since Oregon became a state in 1859. It currently has almost 6000 names on it.
As a state society we sponsor several activities through the year. Our first will be our leadership workshop/ campout. We then have a program packet meeting in conjuction with the state SAR/DAR/C.A.R. picnic. In November we enter a float into the Albany Veteran's Day parade. The Albany parade is billed the largest veteran's day parade on the west coast. We have received an award in the youth division float catagory for the last 5 years. The highlight of the year is our state conference in March. This year we celebrated our 78th state conference. Our Honorary State President was able to raise $2200 towards a bench at the SAR War Memorial. The two state presidents who raised money for the memorial (Jennifer Devin and Nick Dolbin) have elected to use the funds to support the Virginia State bench at the memorial.     Our next activity will be the state board meeting/campout, July 6th, 2013. We hope to see you there. | | National Motto “For God and Country” National Theme “The Pursuit of Happiness”
