The Wimberly Cemetery property was a twenty acre plot given to the community of Glide by pioneer Enoch Wimberly. Wimberly came to the Glide area with the Shrum families and took a donation land claim that encompassed both sides of Little River about a half mile above the confluence of Little River and the North Umpqua River.
The cemetery is located on a small plateau about one-quarter of a mile from the Little River Road off Schloeman Lane (first road to the right will lead a person to the parking lot of the cemetery. The official records of the cemetery are kept by the Wimberly Cemetery Association (2000 A. D. board members are John Livingston, Kenneth Shrum, and Norma Jean Wright). Originally a pioneer cemetery for local families, the cemetery today accepts other burials. E-mail contact can be made with John Livingston at <livranch@rosenet.net>.
Enoch Wimberly and his wife, Nancy Ann Marks Wimberly, are both buried
at
Roseburg Memorial Gardens, in Roseburg, rather than in this cemetery.

ADDITIONS:
NOTE 1: McCLENDON, Flora (Plot sold in 1994)
NOTE 2: There are unmarked graves in the cemetery dating from the 1800s. Originally marked with wooden markers, they have, over the years disintegrated and no longer mark the graves. The Association was not formed for at least several decades after the cemetery was used by the community and those graves are known to exist but the exact location and the individual names of those buried there are presently unknown. At least seven Native American graves are also in the cemetery and the general location of those graves are known, and the names of those individuals have not been recorded.
