Welcome to the Jewish Genealogical Society of Oregon

Upcoming Events

Attached you will find the flyer for our September 22 program meeting. We will start off the year with a wonderful, and frequent guest of JGSO, Steve Morse. He has a new program for us. He will demonstrate a case study of how you can research your family without having much information to start with. Please see the attached file for more details.
With the holidays so very early this year, we hope your New Year will be filled with sweetness and a curiosity to explore your family history with the Jewish Genealogical Society of Oregon.

After the formal program you will have time to ask Steve about his website tools in more depth and to ask the roomful of genealogists about your particular questions. Several of us attended the recent IAJGS conference in Boston and are fresh with enthusiasm.

IAJGS International Conference on Jewish Genealogy Announces Live!

I hope this finds you enjoying your summer.

The annual International Association of Jewish Genealogical Societies' conference is next week in Boston. For those of you who will be unable to attend, there is a recent announcement that may well be of interest to you. I have attached the link for you below. The news is that 50 sessions (approx) of the conference will be broadcast live from the conference. You will even be able to submit questions to the presenter. What a convenient way to sample the conference offerings without leaving the comfort of your own home. Please read below for more information about this opportunity. I'd love to hear from you afterwards if you participated.

I look forward to seeing you on September 22 where Steve Morse (of stevemorse.org) will open our program season. Steve has a new presentation planned that will be a case study of a genealogical search. It should be invaluable to beginners and have some good reminders for those of you more seasoned in doing genealogy research. More information will be sent in a month or so.

Good luck with your research!
