The Lewis & Clark Exposition took place in the summer of 1905, on the 100th anniversary of the Lewis & Clark Expedition. It was an important event in the growth of Portland. It brought nation-wide attention to the city, and brought visitors by the thousands to the northwest. Many of those visitors stayed.
