Newspapers can provide an insight into the lives of our ancestors. They recount their daily occurrences, both ordinary and extraordinary. If you have newspaper items to share, please contact the webmaster.

How to obtain an obituary from a Multnomah County newspaper.

This can be done a number of ways.

Visit a repository and make a photocopy. The best collections of Multnomah County newspapers are found at:

Knight Library, at the University of Oregon in Eugene, has newspapers from across the state.

Multnomah County Library has local newspapers

You can now search The Oregonian from 1987 to current. When an article is found, the beginning of the article is shown, and for $1.95 you can get the entire article using your Visa, MasterCard, or American Express.

Oregon Historical Society, has newspapers from across the state.

bullet

Lake Oswego Public Library has the Oregonian only, but is easy to access, and parking is easy.

 

Find a volunteer who will do lookups for free. Some resources for this are:
