John P. Powell

John P. Powell was born in Gates County, North Carolina in 1822. He married Adeline (--?--) in Missouri on April 1, 1847. They came to Oregon in the fall of 1852, and settled this claim the next fall.⁽¹⁾ At the 1870 census, he was enumerated as a Physician and farmer.⁽³⁾

Adaline (--?--) was born about 1826 in Kentucky.⁽²⁾

At the 1860 census, he is called a physician. The family has the following children in it:⁽²⁾

	Herman Powell, born about 1847 in Missouri.
	Sarah Powell, born about 1848 in Missouri.
	Nancy Powell, born about 1851 in Missouri.
	James Powell, born about 1854 in Oregon.
	Fleetwood Powell, born about 1856 in Oregon.
	Mary Powell, born about 1857 in Oregon.
	Henrietta Powell, born about 1859 in Oregon. She is not enumerated in the 1870 census, so has probably died.⁽³⁾
	Anna E. Powell, born about 1863.⁽³⁾
	Minna Powell, born about 1865.⁽³⁾
