Terrence Quinn

Sec. 36-- Map 7A & 7B

Terrence Quinn was born in Ireland in 1818.(1) He and his younger brother, John, left Ireland after the potato famine, settling first in St. Johns, Newfoundland.(2) There, Terrence met and on May 16, 1850 married Mary Whelan.(1)

He was a naturalized citizen, receiving certificate #321 on June 2, 1851 at the Court of Brooklyn, Kings County, New York. They arrived in Oregon on November 9, 1851 and settled on their Portland claim November 27th.(1)  Terrence remained in Portland, dying September 4, 1890.(2)

Mary Whelan was a native of St. Johns, Newfoundland. Mary (Whelan) Quinn died of consumption in March, 1854 and was buried on the claim with a Catholic priest performing the rites.(2)

They had one child:
