Terrence Quinn

Sec. 36-- Map 7A & 7B

Terrence Quinn was born in Ireland in 1818.⁽¹⁾ He and his younger brother, John, left Ireland after the potato famine, settling first in St. Johns, Newfoundland.⁽²⁾ There, Terrence met and on May 16, 1850 married Mary Whelan.⁽¹⁾

He was a naturalized citizen, receiving certificate #321 on June 2, 1851 at the Court of Brooklyn, Kings County, New York. They arrived in Oregon on November 9, 1851 and settled on their Portland claim November 27^th.⁽¹⁾  Terrence remained in Portland, dying September 4, 1890.⁽²⁾

Mary Whelan was a native of St. Johns, Newfoundland. Mary (Whelan) Quinn died of consumption in March, 1854 and was buried on the claim with a Catholic priest performing the rites.⁽²⁾

They had one child:
