John QuinnSec. 25-- Map 7B John Quinn came to Oregon with his brother Terrence. They had left their Irish birthplace, first settling in Newfoundland, and then coming to Portland by 1851. John was born about 1828. He received his citizenship on July 15, 1856 from Cyrus Olney, Judge, Court of Multnomah County, Oregon Territory.(1) John Quinn sold this claim in 1865, and went to Montana. He settled on Nevada creek, bought a ranch, and ran a herd of cattle. He was shot and killed by a neighbor named McArrison with whom he was engaged in a feud. He died March 11, 1873.(2)
