They came to Oregon about 1886 by train from New York. They had heard about the opportunities offered in this country and urged by a venturesome spirit decided to try a new country. They settled in Corbett, Oregon, where they bought their farm. Their children were named Fritz C., Gertrude (Herzog), Helena (Shea), and Elsie (Carr). Two brothers, Albin and Louis Floss, settled at Corbett. One brother, Ferdinand, lived in a little community called Egypt. The property on which the Grange now stands was part of the Floss farm and donated by Albin Floss to the Grange. They sold the farm in 1907 and moved to Milwaukie, Oregon.
