Oxner Family Photo Album
Album #22 OXNER-DYKEMASurnames: Oxner, Dykeman, Jonkman
Locations: Holland Michigan
This photo album was in pieces and all that was available for purchase was the inside front cover and several pages, plus several photographs. Included in the album were two business cards and what looks like a page from a family bible for the Dykema family. It is written in period handwriting with the first date being 1863. There is also a single sheet in different handwriting with genealogy of the Oxner family
Inscription inside cover reads "F. S?L? Mrs. Ninne's Album, Holland City, Ottawa County Michigan"
Stamped Album Frontspiece "Photographs" in fancy fonts
Next page writing "A. J. O. Adrian John Oxner, Holland Michigan, 41 East 14th St"
Types of Early PhotographsThe type of photograph in an album helps to date the album
List of Album Photos and writing on each page
Dykema Family RegisterThis is a loose double sided sheet of lined paper in period handwriting. It is in Dutch. The first date is 1863. It is titled FAMILY REGISTER. Above that, in more recent handwriting someone has added the notation
"Johannes Dykema died 1915 Jan 29
Martha Jonkman Dykeman "
I have not included the actual dates, the Family Register is births, deaths and marriages.
The Dutch words you need to know are geboren = born; overleden = died; getrout met = married with. See more Dutch church words translated from Dutch to English
Here is a sample of thumbnail photos from the Oxner Dykema Album.
