County, Pennsylvania Surname Files
The Beaver County, Pennsylvania Surname Files are open to the public for genealogical research and are located in the Beaver County Genealogy & History Center. There are about 10 file cabinets (4 drawers each) stuffed with files containing family group sheets, newspaper clippings and correspondence that has come from other genealogists for over twenty five years. All are filed by the surname being researched.
The surname folders have information in them that has been contributed by researchers like you. If you don't see your surname represented, the best way to make sure it is represented is to contribute something. If you send us your family group sheets, we put them in the surname file. Who knows, tomorrow a distant cousin might do the same thing!
There could be a wealth of information waiting for you--you just need to ask. We can't promise the answers to all your questions on your ancestors but we'll sure give it a try with all the resources that we have. (Please see the "Contacting the BCGHC" page for information on writing to the Beaver County Genealogical Society for research help.) We discourage you from asking us to copy an entire surname folder. Some folders contain multiply unrelated families. Please allow us to search the folder for your particular family.
