Genealogical Queries

Butler County , Pennsylvania

(page one - #1-24)

I'm not from Butler, but my grandfather was and I'm trying to do genealogical research. His name was Richard Gerabaldi Thompson, and I do know that somewhere in Butler and sometime each year there is a Thompson reunion which pertains to our branch of the Thompson line. I hear that it's now the Thompson-Wilson family reunion. Can someone out there please help me and let me know who to contact about the reunion? We'd like to find out what research has already been done so as not to reinvent the wheel. Thanks! Jerry W. and Evelyn Ruth Thompson.

Re: Widner or Widener--Fifty year old man was adopted in Miami, Florida at birth - June 3, 1946. Mother and/or father from the Butler Co. area. Father was a struggling portrait artist and mother or father had some connection with a regional amusement park. Mother was blonde, and had another nine-year-old son at the time of the adoption. Older son attended school in Miami while awaiting birth. I'm interested in whatever may have become of my biological family, and would appreciate any information. Thanks! John Lakey

Hello from a Shakeley in California. I am currently doing genealogical research on families in and around Butler County. I go regularly to the very large LDS (Mormon) Family Library in Los Angeles and would be willing to search for you if you do not have a big LDS Library in your area. I hope I will hear from some relatives back there. Betty Shakeley.

I am researching numerous families from Butler Co.

There are many more families. This is just a start, as almost all of my mother's family lived in Butler Co. in the early years. I would appreciate hearing from anyone about any of these families. Jane Byrnes

Is there anyone out there researching John Eshenbaugh, born ca. 1800 in Pa., resided in 1824 in Butler County, married Jane Freeman (born ca. 1805) by 1824 when their first child was born? They were the parents of Andrew, William, John, Thomas, Joseph , Mary Ann (married a Hamilton), Susannah and I suspect at least one more son, possibly named James. Any information on any Freemans or Eshenbaughs appreciated. Thanks. Judy Weber

Would like to hear from anyone researching the Shanor name in Butler County Pa. Need to find out the parents of Lucinda Shanor (born ca. 1825) in Pa. , most likely in Butler County. In Nov. 1850, she is listed as Lucinda Shanor on the census. By 1851, she buys land as Lucinda Findley, so it appears she married a Findley. It would appear he died shortly thereafter, and by 1853 she is married to William Eshenbaugh. Lucinda Shanor Findley Eshenbaugh died 31 August 1886. Her will lists her children but does not give me any information on her. Her probate record is short. I cannot find an obituary on her, I cannot find out where she is buried or where William is buried (suspect he died between 1870 -1880 census). They lived in Centre Township. It seems they disappeared. Any help would be appreciated. Their children were: Tamilda Crawford (married Lewis Crawford and lived Allegheny City), Alvin James (A.J.), Anna Adelia Criss/Cress who lived in Crafton, and Susannah who married Dr. Eli Croup and moved to Walla Walla Washington Territory. Any help is appreciated. Judy Weber
