WASSON, John. Searching for info on the origins and ancestors of John WASSON, who married Ann MEANS in 1744. Children were John, Thomas, James and Elizabeth. He was killed by Indians 26 May 1756 while farming outside Steel's Fort. Descendants of his son, Thomas, later settled in Butler County. This John Wasson has been reported as born 1715 in Peters Twp, Cumberland, PA, and he is also reported as born 1698 in Kilmarnock, Ayr, Scotland.

SHUNKO. Came to U.S. possibly 1913. Entered through Ellis Island. Could have entered U.S. as Anna MARKEVITCH or MARKEVICH or Anna SHUNKO. I'm not sure where the marriage took place. Belorussian. Spouse was Lavrentiy MARKEVITCH or MARKEVICH. He died Jan. 27, 1958. Anna or Ana then married KECHKO, John. John KECHKO was from Solnechnogordsjk near Moscow, Russia. John possibly came to U.S. 1911 Ellis Island.

MARKEVICH, Lavrentiy Ivanovich. I'm researching surname; MARKEVICH, Lavrentiy Ivanovich. He came to the U.S. 1911 - 1913. He was born in Sutkovo, Russia - January 25, 1882. His family was an Orthodox Belorussian family .. He married Anna M. SHUNKO. 1913(?) settled in Butler near Pittsburgh. In 1925 they moved to Pittsburgh. He was converted to Christianity 1929 was Baptised May 7, 1929. (possibly into Baptist denomination) He then moved to Erie, Pa. He died in 1958. Was buried Jan. 27 1958. The spelling of the surname could be MARKEVITCH.

CHANEY, WEBB, COTTRILL (COTTRELL) WEISENSTEIN. I am looking for my ancestors of Lovina CHANEY 1848-1914 who married after the death of her first husband Sam WEBB ( 1842-1918) Sam had 2 children by his first wife. The children were Elmer WEBB (1886-1959) who married Mamie Adams. The other child was Anise Marie Webb (1888-1962) who married Clarence Milton COTTRILL (1889-Oct 19, ?) Anise and Howard had the following children Verna Blanche COTTRILL (1918- ?) married 1940 to Howard WEISENSTEIN in Butler County Pa. I found an old letter that my grandmother Rose GRAHAM GATES had and decided to see if I could find any information about these folks. MORRISON, Junius Benjamin. I am looking for the parents and brother and sisters of Junius Benjamin Morrison who was born in Butler County, Pa on August 10, 1848. Junius' father died when he was a boy and it is reported that his mother sent him to live with an uncle (William Cody). Junius served in the Civil War as a helper and then a soldier. He married Annie McCoy in Clayton, Illinois on Nov. 30, 1869. He had a son Fred Morrison and then moved to Johnson Co., Iowa in 1873 and lived there until he died in 1932. Any information on Junius' family would be greatly appreciated. Junius is reported to have had a brother who owned a whole city block in Oil City, PA.

CROOKS. Looking for information on Elizabeth (Eliza) and James CROOKS. Probably both born in Middlesex Twnshp, Butler Co. Elizabeth was possibly born in 1820. I do not not know Elizabeth's parents name, but "Eliza" is mentioned in Philip SNYDER's will as "granddaughter". James CROOKS parents were Samuel CROOKS and Louisa PRIEST. James CROOKS died in Middlesex Twnshp in 1850. What happened to Eliza and her three children--Barbara, Louisa, and George--after James died?? Did she re- marry? I would like to hear from anyone who is also researching the CROOKS Family in Butler County or the SNYDER Family of Butler County, Penn.

Pearce, Elijah, Mary, and Smith Snow were listed on pages 103 and 104, Cranberry Twp., Jacob was llist on page 63 in Donegal Twp.I beleive that Mary Snow was the mother of Mary Snow who married Robert Nellis sometime before 1830. DUANE. My paternal grandmother was Mary Duane b 27 Jun 1867 Pittsburgh. She was one of 8 children: Margaret married Harry Walker, Elizabeth never married, Essie married Walter Roessler, Jenny never married, Ann never married, John married Carrie of Germany, and Jim died young in an auto accident. Mary married my grandfather Joseph Hesidence b 14 Jun 1864 Butler Co PA on14 Oct 1888 at St. Joseph's Church by Rev. Geo. P. Allmann. At the time of the marriage they lived in the 17th Ward Pgh and Joseph was a steel worker. They later lived in Aliquippa, had 7 children: Raymond b Dec 1889 died as young man, Joseph James Sept 1891 - Mar 1962 married Mary Brandt and lived in Pgh, Ruth b May 1893 married Jack Reynolds and had one daughter Caroline, Andrew b 19 Oct 1895 (my father) served in the Army in WWI, contracted TB and lived his life out west, Harry b Sept 1897 died young, Ethyln b. July 1899 married Jack O'Neil, and Jane b ca 1901 married "Shorty Bearer" and lived in Pgh. Mary Duane's father was born in Ireland and her mother was born in New York. We understand that Mary's father was in the building trade and that St. Mary's Cemetery, Pgh and some highways were laid out by him. Looking for parents of Mary and any info associated with this family.
