* In 1777 it has been establised that all 8 classes of the Lancaster County militia were called up (see Minutes of the Supreme Executive Councilin printed Pa. Archives, 1st series for documentation). While class lists for this period have been lost the people listed as having served in 1777 have been compiled by using the 1777 tax list for these townships and then eliminating the names of non-associators (those who paid a fine rather than serve). Since all 8 classes were called up then everyone served but non-associators. While this system isn't perfect, those who didn't pay taxes will be missed, it probably recovers most of those who served.

Also the Commonwealth of Pa. has a collection of online Revolutionary War Material. While its not as complete as the printed Pa. Archives, it does allow you to find Revolutionary War soldiers in class lists.
