<dd>This log structure was first built by the Atkinson family in the 1780s. It stood on a bend in the Conestoga River near Sunnyside. Its thought to be the second house constructed by the Atkinsons on that site. The fact that the logs are planed suggests it wasnÕt the orginal house. The house was deconstructed by the society and moved to its grounds in 1997. It has been furnished with reproductions from Lancaster County master craftsman and serves as a resource for area school children and an example of a late 18th century household. <br>

The Atkinson house was featured in the July/August 1999 issue of <i>Early American Homes</i> magazine.<br>

The Cellar Museum Shop is in the basement of the Atkinson house. Here the society sells locally made reproductions as well as books, pottery, and other high quality items. Because of the nature of the products sold it is not possible to offer these times for sale through the mail. Visit the gift shop to make a purchase. while the German 4-square garden is just outside the Atkinson House.
