The Conestoga Area Historical Society
Petroglyphs are images carved on rocks, in our area done by Native Americans. If you want to see the real thing, there are petroglyphs located at Safe Harbor, where the Conestoga River meets the Susquehanna. The Conestoga Area Historical Society also has petroglyphs that are loan from the Pennsylvania Historical and Museum Commission, these were removed from the river when the Safe Harbor Dam was constructed in the 1930s.
The image on the left is from Walnut Island while the one below is from Little Indian Rock.
