Victor A. Brooks, surveyor and merchant, Sinnemahoning, was born in what is now Gibson township, Cameron Co., Penn., May 15, 1842, and is the son of John and Martha (Mason) Brooks. He was reared and educated in his native county, and began life as a lumberman and surveyor, residing in Sterling from 1873 to 1886, where he was engaged in the lumber business and conducted a grist-mill. In 1886 he returned to Sinnemahoning and embarked in the grocery business in 1887, in which he is still engaged. He married, May 15, 1872, Jane E., daughter of David A. and Leah (Knisley) Fulton, of Sinnemahoning, and they have three daughters: Evangeline V. A., Charlotte J. M. and Grace L. M. Mr. Brooks has held the office of county surveyor several terms, is a member of F & A. M., K. of P., Patriotic Order Sons of America, Sons of Temperance and Union League. In politics he is a Republican.
