This list of deaths and injuries that occurred in Blacklick Valley mines, or involving local residents, was compiled from various sources but predominately from the past issues of The Journal, a weekly newspaper published in Nanty Glo, PA since 1921. The date listed is usually the date of The Journal in which the event was published. In other cases the date may be the actual date of death or injury or the date of burial, based on funeral records. As this list shows, coal mining was dangerous - maiming and often killing those who toiled in this major industry of the Blacklick Valley.
A "hard copy" of this list, as well as photocopies of the actual newspaper articles from The Journal, is available in a 3-ring binder at the Nant-Y-Glo Tri-Area Museum and Historical Society (NGTAM&HS) collection located in the Nanty Glo Public Library at 942 Roberts Street.

Sadly I already know there are many missing. The oldest I have
is 1898 in Vintondale but I am continually adding and have much
of the 1930s with a few in the 1940s. There are well over 600
of them listed.
