Cemetery Headstone Transcriptions
Transcribed by George R. Warholic on May 6, 2000 and updated October 8, 2005.
This cemetery is located on Cardiff Road between the villages of Cardiff and Nanty Glo
in Blacklick Township, Cambria County. It is on the north side of the cemetery area, the
south side is St. Marys Roman Catholic Cemetery, which is nearly on the Blacklick
Township-Nanty Glo boundary.
The Holy Ascension Ukrainian Orthodox Church in Nanty Glo was founded in 1921 and
remodeled in 1969.
The cemetery consists of about 27 rows of headstones each containing, at most, 13 graves.
Rows were recorded from south to north, starting at the southwest corner nearest Cardiff
Road. The dividing line between the cemeteries is a line formed by a straight line from a
wooden corner post in the rear and a white concrete 6" X6" post in the front about 45 feet
from the southern stone pillar of the entrance driveway.
Included are eight probable burials based on the Ondriezek Funeral Home records, but no
headstone was identified for the burial. These burials are indicated by "OFH" in the Row
column.
Some of the headstone inscriptions were in Cyrillic only and were translated to the English
equivalent, based on my limited ability.
