First Cherringtons came into the Southern Columbia County and Roaringcreek Valley area from Berks County about 1798. They were associated for four generations with the Roaringcreek Friends Meeting near Slabtown. Related families continue to live in the area.

We published a 300+ page book in 1978 on The Cherrington Family History & Genealogy. Copies are available at the Columbia County Historical Society and other local libraries. We have plans to publish a revised and expanded reprinting of the book in early 1999. The new addition will contain over 16,000 names of Cherrington and related family individuals. New material for inclusion is welcomed.
